347th out of 351 teams in offensive rebounds allowed

Scroll All the way to the bottom
This has been a MAJOR issue all season long and it simply shouldn't be. We have a tall team with 2 great forwards and THREE 7 footers on top of that yet we give up damn near 12 offensive boards a game (and it's worse ion SEC play). Our opponent grabs nearly 1 out of 3 of their misses...think about that for a second.
This is one of those lack effort/coaching issues that drives me insane. It totally messes up what good defense we have, in fact, we are 39th out of 351 in Defensive Efficiency. That is very very good. Our opponent's eFG% is just 44.3%, which is among the tops in the country.
Playing good defense is a great thing, but gets TOTALLY wiped out when you fail to grab misses by the other team.
This team continues to take 1 step forward and 2 steps back.

It does no good when only 1 of those 3 are seeing the floor. And btw, I'm pretty sure this was a problem last year, so there's not much to be shocked at outside of them not improving in this area.

It's gotten even worse, somehow. We've gone from giving up about 10 offensive boards a game to 12.
Like I said, we improve defensively but blow it anyways by not grabbing defensive boards.

That's what happens when big men try and block every shot. Throws our entire defense off

You absolutely cannot give up that many offensive rebounds. It's amazing how competitive we are while being so poor on the offensive glass.
The rules of the game are setup to prevent more offensive than defensive rebounds.
Defensive players can hang in the paint while offensive players are only given 3 seconds at a time.
Good find OP. It's an amazing stat and should be worked on immediately.

This.
Our guards let opponents drive to the goal too easily, then they just stand and watch as Mickey leaves his man to run and attempt to block the shot. Meanwhile, Mickey's original man is standing on the other side of the goal unblocked and ready for an easy putback.
There is hardly ever any rotation to try and get a body on Mickey's original man.

There is NO excuse. That is a coachable talent. Simply blocking out.
No coaching of fundamentals. Shocking I tell ya.

the blocks are great and mickey's presence inside alters a lot of shots but his man gets left alone a lot when he goes for blocks and none of our big guys really block out so other teams tend to get easy put backs.

Boxing out is not cool

Damn. That one offensive possession by UK resulted in like 7 offensive boards

As others have said, this is because Mickey always leaves his man to try and block the driving mans shot. Sometimes he should but sometimes he shouldn't. He needs to learn he does not have to help on some of those drives. It was never more obvious than the Kentucky game.
