I am sure this will become a "favorite" thread, but I am looking for players you respect but they are not necessarily your favorite player.

Baseball: Dale Murphy (much respect, but my favorite as well)
Football: Barry Sanders, Joe Montana, Tom Brady
Basketball: AC Green, Larry Byrd

ETA: I mean respect as a person, not necessarily as a great athlete. I respect Barry Bonds ability but do not respect him as a person.

Cam Newton- Have to admire the way he's overcome adversity and matured into a two time division winning QB.

AJ McCarron- Say what you want about his talent. He was the ultimate winner.

Barry Bonds- HR king. Record that will never be touched.

Walt, I assumed he was kidding. Although Kobe will go down as one of the greatest to play, his off the court antics and selfishness make it very hard for me to respect him.

Pat Tillman

Gave up the professional sports for his country and in the end gave up his life for it as well. Kind of hard not to respect THAT!

Barry Sanders would have to be mine.

Someone that good at what he did had the guts to walk away from his profession when he was still playing at a high level. You never see that in today's sports.

It would be a tossup between Sanders & Duncan for me.

My first post in here was a troll. This is the answer to this thread though. When it comes to "respect", there is no way any athlete deserves more than Pat Tillman. He gave up millions and a lifestyle that every man dreams of, to serve his country and fight for our freedom.

I'm surprised anyone gives a shite about Dale Murphy.
