We'll be packing up and hauling arse right after Spanish Town parade to Endymion about 3pm. We are flexible on where to catch parade but just want something safe where we can catch entire parade without having to run(have not done this with kids before)?

Any exits or areas to avoid?

Take the Tulane exit. Come down to broad and catch it somewhere on Canal after it makes the turn.

I've never been to Mardi Gras in NO, but it seems like a huge hassle. What is the appeal? Is it worth the trouble or do you attend based on some adherence to tradition/routine?

Hauling arse will be the opposite of what you will be doing.

Okay. Fair question. I've done this a bunch in the past. It was more of a "let's pull this shite off" kinda thing. It's not THAT hard to do when you're with adults and partying it up.

This will be first time I need to plan out and shite with kids.

The reason we are doing it is b/c my girlfriend is a huge Luke Bryan fan. So since I didn't get us tix to the extravaganza we can at least see him on a float. Way cheaper and family fun as well.

Just doesn't seem worth it to me, but I hope you guys have a blast and the kids have good Mardis Gras memories.

This is inexcusable on several levels

they are fun in the moment but the hassle, the crowd fighting, the guarding of your positions from fricking assholes, the people being drunk getting pissed and wanting to fight and cursing etc.... lack of bathrooms, it truly does make it not worthwhile, haven't even mentioned the parking and traffic...

No shite right. I've been coming Mardi Gras since 85 and know the ropes pretty well particularly Saturday and Sunday. But this is an unusual situation. I was contemplating taking 610 to coming back west on 10 to Orleans to be sneaky. But SS gave me good idea. Gonna try that.

Even with kids?

Seems like fighting crowds filled with trashy people would take away most of the fun If you had kids to worry about.

Better yet you may want to get off and take airline at one point depending on the congestion. Airline turns into tulane

Go right by the arena and superdome where the band and floats split. Th floats turn into the superdome and the bands keep going. There is nobody ever in that location, friends of mine have done it with their kids for years. You can go late and catch a shite loads of beads and not crowded.

Pay to park on my lot at the corner of state capital drive and 6th street and then take road to exit out by govorners mansion straight to the interstate and haul arse. No traffic at all

Cut off everyone's fluid intake at least an hour before you leave. You're going to be in the car for a long arse time.

I've been several times (as a non-Louisianan) and it was pretty fun. I have no interest now as an adult, nor would I have interest in taking my kids, but then again it isn't my culture and I didn't grow up getting out of school for it.

Dude you read my frickin mind. Have dual screens in action here. OT on one and google maps on the other. I was just thinking if traffic is frickED to LaPlace that i'll just hop on airline.
