Savannah is just more fun in my opinion. It has better nightlife

I'm certainly biased, but I can't agree with this at all. Charleston has twice as many bars as Savannah alone just on King Street. Yet alone the additional bars on East Bay and neighborhood bars on Spring St, Cannon St, etc.

Savannah does allow open containers though which is always a plus.

Did the ordinance to shutdown Charleston's bars at midnight pass?

It did not. And that was only for new bars that were going to be built after the ordinance would've been enacted.

All other bars previously open would be allowed to stay open past midnight.

But it failed anyway

I've been to bachelor parties, plural, in both cities. It is six of one and half a dozen of the other. They are essentially the same experience. I personally enjoyed Charleston far more.

Be forwarned, though, that the drive to the strip club in Savannah can be long/expensive depending on where you stay since you have to drive into SC (no strip clubs in Savannah).

Pleasure Island NC is the best. My SC info. is dated. I always heard Folly was nice.

Gotya. I was there this past summer and some people were up in arms about it, as they should be.

I didn't know that Charleston had more bars than Savannah. Savannah just seems more of a drinking induced place to me. Maybe that's because I find it to be a little more laid back and artistic (lots of tattoos, SCAD, etc) than Charleston. Also, you see a ton of people walking around with a beer or an old fashioned or mint julep, etc.

Both are very similar towns, I just felt that you've got Charleston on one end of the spectrum, New Orleans on the complete other end of the spectrum and Savannah slap down in the middle. Maybe that's why I enjoy it more. You get a little bit of both in Savannah.

I can't imagine Savannah having anywhere near the talent that is in Charleston. And because of the ratio, your single friends should be in luck

Savannah does have some talent. It's not up to the level (or sheer numbers) as Charleston, but it's still a great southern town.

I'm partial to Charleston's nightlife and food scene. Savannah is beautiful, but it does have a dirty side to it. Savannah has a some crime to it as well that you don't get in Charleston (unless you are in N. Charleston).

You can't go wrong with either. Savannah's St. Patrick's Day though...

Do Charleston not Savannah. Stay downtown. Also alot of those restaurants mentioned are booked months in advance so plan ahead and make reservations ( if you guys aren't just going to wing it). Enjoy.

Lsu baseball plays in columbia that weekend, only an hour or so up the road. There's never really a bad time to come to charleston but others are right, restaurants are going to be packed due to graduation. Enjoy your trip while you are here

Only 4-6 of us. We are more of the hole in the wall less fancy types anyway.
