my LSU vs Kentucky experience with my dad

can't remember the exact year but Kentucky had their twin towers (bowie and turpin) and joe b hall was their coach.
I am an LSU alum and baton rouge resident and I brought my dad, a kentuck by birth and ky grad, to the game at the pmac. of course he told me LSU didn't have a chance. the place was rocking and unbelievably loud. before tip off, Mike repelled down from the ceiling and the place went wild! later on, Mike adorned a ref shirt, big sunglasses and a blind man's cane and commenced to harass the ref's unmercifully.
my dad said "they shouldn't let the fans be so loud; the Kentucky players can't hear". this was after we started kicking their arse and I began to needle him. then, he started yelling at Mike and saying how that shouldn't be allowed.
after the game and LSU had won handily my dad was very quiet. he had no idea how LSU could beat his team and the fans be into it so much.
this was one of my greatest memories of the PMAC. for the rest of his life my dad respected LSU basketball and told others how electric the atmosphere was.
I can't make it tonight guys but I hope y'all raise the roof against those despicable wildcats.

I'll tell ya something....I've been to a lot of LSU-UK games in the PMAC over the years and I've never seen opposing fans who act like bigger jackazzes in OUR house than Kentucky fans.
Everytime we go, we end up getting into it with those trash-talking inbreds.
Tonight, we gonna bring da house down!!!!

that sounds about right. daddy dale had so many great teams about then it's hard to remember the exact make up of our Tigers. I think it was ethan martin, rudy macklin, cookieman and dwayne scales. we made Kentucky look bad. also, I think Mike got ejected. he was over the top and it was fantastic! there were so many great games in those days that sometimes the memories kinda merge together. but it was the only game I was able to bring my dad to. he lived out of state but the tickets were damn hard to come by.

That generation of negaTigers sent MAC packing and later on sent Daddy Dale to join him and this generation of nega tigers would like to send Coach Miles to join them ,oh this is a sick world !

Sounds very similar to mine:
I was at a couple of those games back in the day. My pop was a Navy kid who moved around alot. They landed in Louisiana when he was a senior in HS and he stayed here. Grandparents from KY and he was born in KY. Alway a UK bball fan & he took us to the games a few times. I was 5 in 1980. I remember Roger Harden hitting a long shot for UK to win in Pmac after that Macy game I think. The fans dished some abuse to my old man for wearing blue!! I remember him getting pissed lol! Mike came rappelling down from the ceiling...it was awesome to see as a kid. Place was packed and rowdy.
I think it was around 1984 or 85, he invited all his friends/neighbors that were LSU fans over for big party when they played in the NCAA tournament. It was the year they had Kenny Sky Walker. My old man dressed in a tiger suit w/ a cast, cruches, etc. and went around inviting all his friends to the party. Some of them sprayed him w/ a hose. Then he wore the suit all night at our house. Hilarious. LSU beat them to go to the final 4 (Reddon, Blanton, etc.). h a ha!! My old man didn't talk to us for a week. He used to throw furniture around & cuss up a storm when they lost. Then the neighbors wrapped our house w/ purple & gold streamers. Since then, all three of his kids went to LSU and he is an LSU football fan, but when it comes to Bball, he is 100% UK. Pretty funny... I remember people yelling, "Sit the F down" at pmac back in the day.

My dad said the same at the Wisconsin game. Must be a dad thing.

Tenneessee fans are much worse. During the TJ years when Tiger fans weren't showing up, the opposing fans would fill in the lower section behind their bench. I had 2 punks claim the seats in front of me and the wife. They ripped off their shirts and starting whooping it up. One had an orange T painted on his chest and the other a U. An older hick in front of them looked back and told them "yall need ta change seats. We're UT not TU." When the 2 clowns returned to the seats for the 2nd half, the old guy had to tell them again. "Yall need to change seats agin."
