Apparently Marvel wants a high shool aged Spider-man.
What in the real frick?
But why?
What in the real frick?
quote:
According to Comicbookmovie, Marvel wanted to have a high school age Peter Parker. Base on the age alone, 32-year-old Andrew Garfield no longer fits the description.
But why?

B/c they want the character to be one of the leads in the next phase so they need a younger person. They also likely dont want to have to come up with a convoluted excuse for where he was during the Battle of NYC.
For all the griping about covering HS already you'd think that he would have spent the majority of the previous films there.
He was in HS for what, like the first 30 minutes of Spiderman? What all did they even do with it besides have him fight Flash and get a few lunch trays stuck to his webbing?
In ASM he was there a little bit more but again, they hardly touched on his HS experience at all. He has another scene making Flash look like a dickhead once he gets his powers and there is the one brief action scene but its not even really all that memorable. There is really nothing much about him trying to balance being a kid who happens to be a superhero. In fact, most of the movie is Peter at Oscorp or the streets of NYC.
In ASM2 he shows up for his graduation at the start of the movie and after that its bye bye HS.
I wouldn't be surprised if another reason for doing this is to get a jump on Warner/DC who is also developing a story with a kid that has superpowers with Shazam.

Yeah I guess I get all that, but one of the reasons Spidey plays such a huge role in Civil War is because he has guarded his identity for years and years prior to the registration act. Now he's just an impetuous high school jackass, which has it's place, but was not where I thought they were going with it. Who will replace that big "Oh shite!" coup of a character for Stark?

They made Jeff Bridges look 20 again Andrew Garfield can pass for a high school student

you mean in Tron?
I dunno, I thought it looked really strange when they used CG to make him look younger. His skin looked rubbery to me.
The tech has advanced though b/c they did a great job of making Peggy Carter look old as frick in Captain America 2.

Spider-Man more than likely won't be white or PP
I nominate...
In all seriousness, Tyler James Williams should get a strong look.

Pretty sure Sony and Marvel already said it will be Peter Parker. I don't care what some blogger says

You do not acquire the rights to Spider-Man to have it be Miles Morales. Who, admittedly, is an interesting character, but the idea of introducing the Spideyverse is simply not going to happen.

I agree.
WAY too early to introduce the spider verse...even more way to early to introduce Cindy Moon.
The most critical aspect of getting the rights to use Spider-Man that Marvel pulled off is that now they have full access to the following characters:
Spider-Man
Norman Osborn (for Thunderbolts, Dark Reign, and Siege of Asgard storylines)
Venom
Agent Venom
Anti-Venom
Toxic
Scream
Carnage
Scorpion
Vulture
Kraven
Otto Octavius
Hobgoblin
Electro
Alistair Smythe
Black Cat
John Jameson (and his dad of course)
and several other ways they can now branch out in TV and film.
