I would like to start producing (making beats), but I don't really know where to start. Does anyone have any expertise in producing that could help me as to what program to start on, etc.? Thanks.

Fruity Loops (FL Studio) is pretty easy to use, that's what I'd start with. You can download a free trial from the website.

ive watched a few tutorials for FL Studio, but I have a mac and its not coming out on mac till later this year. Do you know how Logic Pro X or Pro Tools is compared to FL?

Logic is fairly easy to use. Ableton is pretty awesome imo.

r/drumkits on Reddit is a really good place to get some sick sounds. TBs of awesome sounds, check it out if you wanna use something non-default. I use FL, but I'm sure they'll work on Logic too

If you're going to be tracking a lot of live instruments, use ProTools. If you're going to be using midi or a lot of sequencing go with Ableton.
I don't know much about Logic though.
This sounds to me like you should go with Ableton.
