I love basketball. But only with its played the right way. Here's my problem with this team:
1. They Dont play team defense. Give up way too many easy baskets.
2. They dont block out. Way too many offensive rebounds.
3. Turnovers. They are careless with the ball.
4. No movement without the ball. Guys stand and watch.
5. Can't shoot free throws. They are free? Who can't shoot a free throw.
Looks like they only play hard when they feel like it. They take lesser teams for granted and then lose. They will probably play great against Kentucky because its a big game. Consistency is not there. Desire is not there. Coach Jones is a great recruiter, but his guys dont always play with heart. I'm ready for baseball.

JJ is a worse X/O's coach than Trent Johnson. John Brady is the best coach we've had in last 20 years.....

Can't argue with any of that.

This is not a "team". It's a group of basketball players that have no cohesiveness & seriously lack in fundamental basketball skills. The coach has proven he can recruit but lacks developing skills & playing schematic tactical basketball.

And if he hadn't made an offhanded remark about the football program he might still be at LSU.

Getting the ball inbounds is killing us. Cost us the last two games. Someone pleas wake up CJJ. Every inbounds pass is an adventure.

I could handle the X/O deficiencies if we were at least fundamentally sound.

This.

And to OP. I like being an a-hole on here to posters but you pretty much summed it all up.

I thought so too. But, I would take Brady back in a heartbeat now. No way does Brady put up with this shiteshow.

They have great potential. Defense is about attitude. It takes effort. Total effort. As coach Les would say, it takes a "want". Not some games, but all games.

Johnny has to get someone in here to coach the fundamentals. Johnny can get the talent, he needs help with the little things. (aka Dale Brown/Tex Winters)

Let me paraphrase what you just said "we suck", "our coach sucks", and "I'm tired of watching sucky basketball". Totally agree with you dude!

Assuming we lose Mickey and Martin we replace them with 2 top 15 players next year. I don't think even Simmons gets us to the tournament next year seeing how bad of a coach JJ is.

few teams can shoot free throws. I find it weird and fascinating.
Many women's teams are better at free throws than the men's team at the same school, whether big 5 or a "AA".

no movement without the ball is just unconscionable.
Means they do not comprehend the basics.
That is on the coach, and their high school coach.

Turnovers is about not caring about others, not giving value to every possession. that goes with no team defense. team defense requires everyone be all-in. Turnovers is just an example of a few people who do not care about anyone but themselves and probably can also be attributed to not really understanding the basics of the game.

LSU is probably still in the top 64. At this point, they would be much better off being in the NIT or the CBI, so they can practice, learn and improve. They would be one game and done, in the NCAAs.

Problem = JOHNNY JONES the guy doesn't know how to coach. He is a cloan of Daddy Dale all they know is street ball. He don't known first thing about x/o 's and as long as he is our coach it doesn't matter if they bring in the no. 1 recruiting class in the country you will get the same results.
