Lyons tweet:

Steelers WR Lance Moore, who's just 2 seasons removed from 1,000-yd season with #Saints, has asked team for his release, per @AdamSchefter.

Do we bother? I was the biggest Lance fan, but even I admit that his production had dropped considerably that last season. Although, so had Sproles and look what he did at Philly. Can he be a playmaker again? Moving on?

Would pass. Don't want him taking away from development of Cooks and Stills.

People have rolled their eyes when I've mentioned this, but I think we need his energy back.

Dump meach and get Lance back in. I think Cooks would learn more from Moore than Meach if you're going to have that vet on the roster anyways.

It might make sense if he would sign at the minimum

They aren't the same type of receiver. Ben had 0 interceptions when the ball was thrown his way this year.

I think it's important to have a vet on the roster when developing young players. Meach isn't it. Colston and Graham have a different skill set. Moore makes sense in that area, IF you're going to have that player on the roster.

Seriously? You brought up interceptions, Moore had 0 when targeted this year

I don't think anyone disagrees with that. No one is suggesting signing Moore to a big long term contract. Bring him into camp, see if he has anything left, and provide quality depth in case Cooks gets hurt for the shorter routes

Moore had 14 of those with over close to a 60% catch rate when targeted. He would also allow more freedom for Cooks to go deep

This.

Bringing back Colston/Moore/Meachem at "Vet Min" does not solve the problem with our receivers getting open. If those guys can't get open at $5m/year, what makes you think they'll get more open at $1m/year?

If the Saints want to bring in a vet playmaker to go opposite Cooks and Stills, fine. But we need to move forward, not backward.

I'm not against it. We platoon guys pretty well. Not sure he will get above the vet minimum by anyone.

Stills
Colston
Cooks
Toon
Moore

What the hell happened to Coleman? Are Coleman and SBJ practicing against each other in a secret facility or something?!

Why does he want to be released? I remember him talking trash about arm strength when it came to brees vs rapeburger. What, rapeburger is throwing to him too hard? He doesn't need to wear black and gold anymore. Let him dance elsewhere.

You remember incorrectly. He wasn't talking trash and never said a negative thing about Drew. Here is exactly what he said:

quote:

"I would say Ben's got a little bit stronger arm, maybe a lot stronger arm," Moore said this week, via the Steelers website. "Just from a couple of days throwing with him here, that's something that kind of jumps out at me. If you're kind of -- I call it lazy with your eyes -- that ball will zoom right past you."

"That's something I'll have to adjust to. I feel like the quarterback should never have to really adjust to the receiver," Moore said. "The receiver should make those adjustments and make things right with the quarterback, because he's the one pulling the trigger. And if they're waiting on you, it's going to make it tough to get things done."

“I definitely count my blessings every day to be able to play with somebody like a Brees or a Roethlisberger,” Moore said. “Honestly, leaving New Orleans was kind of scary for me because I had that comfort in a quarterback that had broken so many records and obviously won a Super Bowl. To get somewhere like the Pittsburgh Steelers that has a quarterback that has won a couple of Super Bowls, it is definitely something that I am thankful for.”

Lance Moore ? @LanceMoore16

Everybody down south is mad now? Never said I disliked Drew or am not thankful for my time w him. Wouldn't be where I am w/o him. Chill out

quote:

What, rapeburger is throwing to him too hard?

He was nothing but class while here and has done nothing to deserve the bullshite you are throwing his way

because the Steelers have 4 better WR's than him and he isn't getting the ball. What he fails to realize is that there are 31 other teams with the exact same situation.

He said rapeburger had a stronger arm. It made me . Brees is the best at everything, including throwing intros.

Ben does have a stronger arm than Brees. That's just fact. Brees was never the canon arm QB. He has always had good strength, but his game is smarts and supreme accuracy. Moore saying that is not a slight on Brees in any way; it's just fact
