out of bounce plays? I've watched damn near every game and we always have trouble inbounding the ball from these areas on the court. Most of the time everyone is standing around and the person throwing the ball in has to try to throw it on the other side of half court or commits a turnover because he has no where to go with the ball. It's so damn frustrating to watch the team struggle with something that should be so simple.

Occassionally I'll see an attempt to run a set, but it seems awkward and poorly executed and IMHO we have the wrong guys triggering the ball in.

But mostly they stand around with no movement and lob the ball dangerously toward half court.

Dale's teams had this same problem.

So did Trent's. Brady actually had some good OOB plays.

I know Musselman has to have some from his pro days. I really don't understand it. That's one area IMHO where it's really inexcusable to be so bad.

I have been bitching about this for the past 2 years as it looks like a bunch of roaches scattering when the lights come on. No set OOB plays. We did those 20 x better in high school and that was Class B

I'll listen to the CJJ apologists on some of the other issues I have, and while I don't always agree, they are at the very least sometimes reasonable takes.

But there IMHO is no excuse or explanation for the cluster that is our inbound game. This and free throws and the rebounding strategies therein are the special teams of basketball. Too important be this neglected.

We are actually ranked in the top 5 in FT% and #1 in rebounds in the SEC, but the inbounding is something that is atrocious.

As a retired coach, I don't like saying anything about the coaching, but I don't see any plays being run on inbounds plays from the baseline or sideline.

My teams ran plays to try to get a quick score, not just to get the ball inbounds and we scored more than not. I remember going to see us play OU at Lakefront Arena many years ago and pulling out a receipt from my wallet to draw up a play that Billy Tubbs called and that was a bread and butter play for my teams for years.

I just don't see that kind of effort from our team.

Likewise, as a Johnny Jones apologists and defender of almost of all his decisions, and a lowly HS coach for over 15 years....... this one does puzzle me.

Question: I don't recall who we have in-bounding the ball, can someone tell me?

the only reason I can think of for this is that it's last on his list of priorities.

what I'm hoping is that we are practicing... like three set plays till we get them to perfection. Noone will have any clue how to defend it cause they will have never seen it run em.

But that's a mega-reach

I was speaking specifically to inbounds sets, just mentioning free throws because they are a part of basketball special teams.

We did give up some offensive rebounds on free throws against SC which upset me, but we also go a big one by Mickey late in that game.

It's usually Martin, and yesterday...Epps once or twice.
