In Mexico, you have four options. From west to east they are Cabo San Lucas, Puerto Vallarta, Bahias de Huatulco, or Cancun/Cozumel.
Puerto Vallarta is in an area that is dangerous right now. The Bahias are in an underdeveloped area. Cancun is party oriented not family oriented although Cozumel is better in this regard.
My pick would be Cabo San Lucas.

Punta Cana or Montigo Bay/Negril are probably the most accessible Caribbean destinations outside of Cancun.

I meant traditional all inclusives like in Mexico, etc.

Camino Real in Cancun is the tits. Great location where you have ocean views on 3 sides. I think 3 restaurants onsite, salt water and fresh water pools. Other than to go to Chichen Itza, we never needed to leave the property (although we did a little shopping for the same stupid crap all the shops sell).

I carried the wife and kids to Moon Palace 2 years ago. It is a really nice place with good food. The kids loved the pools. The only drawback is the beach is pretty bad. The water does not even look as good as in Orange Beach. The way the tidal flow is there is tons of seaweed. They rake it up every morning. One of the days you are there you should take the free shuttle over to Beach Palace and enjoy a great beach with beautiful emerald water. You have access to all of the Palace Resort properties which is pretty neat.
Make sure you have all of your paperwork of where you are staying to show to the shuttle at the airport. Those guys will just about kidnap you as soon as you get off of the plane. They make it seem like they work for the resort to get you to ride with them but they really don't

I think there is one in Kauai in Wailua. Might be the only one on the island. Honestly, most people don't go to Hawaii to spend 90% of their time on a 30 acre resort. The AIs are good when traveling to places like The DR, Jamaica and Mexico where it's not completely safe to venture out on your own.

If you don't drink that much are all inclusives really worth it anymore?
