ha, I meant to search not start a topic.

Ok here we go.

I just finished watching the series for the first time (binged it this past week and a half) and it was pretty damn good. I was actually inspired by all the damn people cosplaying avatar related stuff at Comic Con a few weeeks ago. I don't see how you can frick up a movie with this much good source material.

I always thought people were exaggerating about how bad the M Night Shamaskjdfjalsdjf movie was, but I couldn't get through 10 minutes.

My goodness those kids cannot act and the green screen effects were beyond terrible and the bending was laughably bad.

Is there any reason to finish watching the movie?

Also, Is Legend of Korra any good?

I can understand being speechless if you just watched that abortion of a movie.

I was. It was awful. Why are the water tribe played by white people? They are clearly supposed to be eskimos. Zuko looked like he was punched in the face, not burned. The guy playing Sakka has to be the worst actor ever and the girl who played Katara was very bland.

He chose the actor for Aang based off of a video of the kid doing martial arts. It was dumb as hell. The kid had no acting history at all.

They also didn't do any research it seems.

The movie was an abortion.

To put it point blank, no there is no reason. Shyamalan shat upon everything and really completely shat upon Aang's entire arc with that ending. Really, if Aang becomes that powerful on his own at the end of this movie, there's no reason why Aang himself can't march upon the Fire Nation Capital itself at take out the Fire Lord on his own, when it took until the final episode of the god damn series for him to get to this point.

Yeah, it's really great. It's got it's ups and downs, but I'd say the best season in the Avatar franchise is the 3rd Season of Korra. If I had to rank the seasons:

1) Korra Book 3
2) Avatar Book 2
3) Korra Book 4
4) Avatar Book 3
5) Korra Book 2
6) Korra Book 1
7) Avatar Book 1

Supposedly the only reason the Water Tribe was whitewashed is Nicola Peltz's father demanded she be the main role in the film, and the guy makes like half a billion a year or whatever. But I call bullshite. Yeah I'm sure the father paid bank to let her star, but it would have been whitewashed regardless. I really don't think Paramount realizes they're sitting on a gold mine if they just marketed this property properly.

Seriously, has Shyamalan heard of the concept of a stunt double? I love how he tries to do action shots that have no cuts in them, despite the fact that it makes it so fricking awkward and obvious that actors are waiting for their cues and for the camera to get out of shot. The man somehow has it in his head that he's Alfonso Cuaron or something.

yeah, the shite is horrible. One camera action shots are good when there is no central focus, but when you are focusing on one actor, then unless the direction and choreography is perfect, it looks awkward as frick.

I stopped watching at about the point that the Avatar gets away from Zuko and holy hell. They didn't even try to stop him. In the show, everyone on the ship was lobbing firebombs at him and shooting flames, yet they just watch him leave.

"the fire nation was looking for this kid for 100 years, but whatevs"

It was such a poorly written, directed, and acted movie. I would've left the damn theater, but I had brought my little brother.

I wanted to punch something.

And that's less than 15 minutes in. Seriously, how thrilling was it to watch Aang and Zuko fight for the first time, Zuko then nearly kills himself pinning down Aang from the top ship, then almost kills Aang on accident, and then Aang completely totals the ship. In the movie.... he just leaves.... no fight, no nothing. It's just glossed over and nothing happens. It's really as if Shyamalan read a 3 paragraph summary of the first season and just went with it.

But get to the Earthbending scene at least, perhaps the worst and dumbest scene in cinematic history.

I just watched the earthbending scend on youtube and holy frick!

I had to make a gif of it in case anyone forgot it or hasn't seen it.

WHAT THE frick!? I would have thrown my drink at the screen if I went to the movie and watched this.

ETA: Hold up! Is that supposed to be the earthbender prison? Why in the world isn't it on a ship in the middle of the ocean? Those guys could have broken free at any second with all that land around them.

2) Korra
3) Iroh
4) Varrick
5) Sokka
6) Toph
7) Tenzin
8) Zaheer
9) Bolin
10) Azula

I really have to question if the people behind the movie watched the series at all thanks to that scene. The series goes into a lot of detail on how they imprison benders, and anyone with a single IQ point could realize that these people could escape and kill their guards at any moment. It's really like imprisoning prisoners in a Bass Pro Shop and having a 5 or 6 guys guard the entrance with batons.

10) Azula

I hated how fast she went batshit insane. She was always fricked up, but my god she went from a MAJOR threat to completely off the rocker in like about 2 hours in their time. She seemed like she'd be a great final battle too.

I loved Azula in the season 3. She was kept sane by her "friends," Ty Lee and Mai.

The minute she drove them away, she had nothing to hold onto anymore.

The final battle between her and Zuko was great too, IMO.

I thought she was the best villain of the series.

Azula was always off her rocker though, and really the only stability in her life was violently intimidating people into submission. When her best friends betrayed her, her entire worldview was shattered, and then her father betrays her as well. So Azula got what she had coming to her in the end, being distrustful and friendless, and that's why she broke down in the end when Katara helped revive Zuko. Katara and Zuko helped each other out of genuine friendship, and Azula knew that no one would truly feel that way about her.

Plus, go back and rewatch the series. There's a lot of subtle foreshadowing what was coming to Azula. Notice her subtle infatuation with her own hair and how she talks about trust.

Exactly. Azula was insane throughout the show, but she was balanced by the fact that she had some people she believed were her friends with her, and they were only with her because of threats. Ty Lee only went along when Azula threatened to destroy the circus she was a part of. Mai didn't really care and was just bored, but she liked Zuko and that affected her relationship with Azula.

She had lived her whole life through intimidation and fear. It finally all came crashing down when she realized she was all alone.
