I unfortunately haven't fished with "one of the greatest baits of all time" but I see they are still being sold online.

I used those when I would pond fish back when I was a kid. Worked really well and the bass would blow those things up. The problem with them is they ripped up after a couple fish.

We had a cattle pond that was full of fat bass and shad. When the water was clear it gave me a chance to see what it would take for a bass to hit one. Biggest was 6lb. Bait sank while I took a piss. As soon as I picked it up he hit.
