Pardon moi! I've been here since 1996 ... guess I'd better move back to Louisiana before I start talking like you!

Oh, and "in" before the obligatory "pics?".

Lived in Wake Forest (north of Raleigh) for a couple of years. Nice area, but may be too far for a commute into Raleigh depending on where you're working... Good luck with the relocation and enjoy your new digs!

Move west into the mountains and come eat "crayfish" with me at 2600 feet haha. Asheville has a pretty big LSU alumni/fan base and its a better city than Raleigh. As far as I have seen there is a pretty big LSU following in NC. They even hate Saban!

I have a sister-in-law in Asheville. I love me some Buncombe County. They were mighty good to some folks after Katrina and those kinds of debts stick with a fellow.

I am going to be an IT Consultant down there. I appreciate all of the tips for down there. Especially the Saints Bar. Didn't go to LSU, from Avoyelles Parish and decided to serve my country after high school.

I've been here since '90. If you are a family man, my suggestion is to check out Wake Forest. Good schools and decent access to Raleigh. If a single man, the downtown area is growing with several condos/apt buildings going up with access to the night spots.

Looking at getting a house off of 401 just north of 540. It should put me about 8 miles from work. Time to spend some time getting lost, seems to be the best way for me to find my way around a new area. Thanks for all tips folks they are greatly appreciated.

I have been gone from La.for 55 years but the turkey complaining about call crayfish being called crayfish is probably a closet Bama fan. I commercial fished them for many years & last time I looked they were Crayfish. GET A GRIP!!!

I moved from BR to Wake Forest, NC in 2008. Absolutely love it here. If you are single, I would look more to the Raleigh side of town. If not, Wake Forest is an awesome place to be and is exploding right now. What you have heard about Cary is about right. Downtown Raleigh, Glenwood Ave. is booming.

Do you rent or own a house? where will you be working? Raleigh is big spread out metro area, but the downtown is making a resurgence. I have relative just out of school living there, renting nice appt in Cameron Village area, very trendy shopping/ bars etc. and close to downtown offices.

Just checking in I finally got settled in Raleigh. Rented a house off of New Bern Ave and New Hope Rd. Love the move so far. The finishing touch was going back to Avoyelles Parish to get my dog over Easter. Many thanks to my Dad for watching her. All I can say damn I was gone to too long. Crawfish boil (3 sacks) on Good Friday and one hella good barbecue on Saturday.
