Why would anybody believe that one is more likely to find drug dealers at a gun show than at the mall?

Sorry to tell you this but your plate likely has already been read. Either at the mall, your driveway, you mistresses driveway, a gun show, Army surplus store, Subway, etc. Its ok though. Unless your plate is reported in a crime or is read during an investigation of vehicle frequenting a dope house, nobody is coming knocking on your door.

Cant believe how many people are freaking over their license plate being read in a parking lot and being stored in a database. OMg someone else could get ahold of it in 10 years and know I drove a F-150 and was at a gun show

You get a hat as well.

So you think that someone in DEA came up with the idea of recording all of the license plates at a gun show in order to help with drug investigations, and no other purpose whatsoever?

Actually, you and I are on the same side, Coach. If you go back to page 1, you'll find I was the second poster to argue AGAINST the proposed policy because I was concerned about personal liberties. Shortly, AlxTgr started assigning hats (me included) to anyone who did demonstrated any skepticism w/ the about the stated purposes of the program. The post by me that you quoted was meant to be sarcastic; I was actually poking fun at myself having received a hat, as well.

Unfortunately, this thread has gone from interesting discussion to full "troll mode."

Notice how everyone here complains about gun show prices and never buys? Uh-huh. It's nothing but criminals up in there. And drug lords.

Good gracious, AlxTgr. See, I'd normally think you're trolling w/ an outrageous statement like that, but since you denied trolling to Coach, that means you must really believe the quoted statement. It's good to know that you've come out of the closet and have told us what you really believe about gun shows and those that attend them.

I am not that concerned about what tactics the police use to combat crime. I am more bothered by the fact that there are people in society and in government who believe that a gun show is a center of criminal activity.

What other motivations would they have?

Seems to me that you have gun involved in a drug related crime, you know it came from a gun show, maybe then you could cross reference who went to the show with a list of suspects.

Maybe that would be the piece that got a conviction in a case, maybe. Then the DEA closes a drug crime case. Maybe.

ORRR it could be to raid my house, step on my Second Amendment rights, kick my Chihuahua, step on my three year olds Hot Wheels and take my 950.00 870 express, ninja throwing stars, and oriental sword I got at the show.

It was a great statement. I hope you don't stop posting. It's obvious you don't understand any of the points made in here. Like not at all.

Not sure you realize how common license plate readers are and how often they are used.

No kidding. Those gun show people think their stuff is made of gold. I've never found anything close to a deal at one. Now all the ammo hoarders are in force.

I would think pretty common.

I have to admit my experience consists of one 10 minute trip to one.

All I can say is I hope that the black dude in this pic is DEA or ATF and writing down everything there is to know about this fella!
