My team has won several titles in a row, if you haven't noticed. My team might not ever be the best one in Europe, but it's undoubtedly the best one in Scotland.

Bc the league is awful. Celtic has gotten worse no way around it.

Being fairly new to the sport, is SPL relevant in the modern game in a significant way?

The league has gotten slightly worse, yes. Celtic isnt as good as 2012, no, though to be fair--from 2008-2011 they weren't as good as 2012 either. It has its ups and downs. They'll be good again. At least they're winning trophies and playing in Europe! :)

Relevant? Yeah. But even as a fan of the SPL, I'd argue there's other leagues you should watch first. EPL being the main one. MLS too, if you live in the States.

You are not a Celtic fan or, if you are, you're one of those people who hasn't watched other than in the UCL.

Lol. I've been watching since 2004. I have a Celtic TV subscription and watch every game. I am a Celtic fan, I just don't thrive on hatred of Rangers. I want Rangers to exist...because I want to beat the shite out of them.

Same goes for Ole Miss/LSU. I don't want Ole Miss to stop existing...I want to beat them year after year.

I'm more than willing to laugh at Rangers misfortune, but the truth is that the league is weaker without them and the Old Firm games are fun as hell.

Why would anybody pretend to be a Celtic fan?

No, not in any significant way. It's a second tier European league. It will produce a champion that will compete in the early CL knockout stages and possibly later in Europa. But that's the only real relevant impact you'll find outside of its geographic area.

Depends on what year. Celtic makes it into the Final 16 of CL every couple years.

bantz

but from the late 90's to mid 2000's both teams put out some monster teams with class international players

both reached UEFA cup finals

i still remember the Celtic vs Porto cup final when the dude dressed as a ref ran on the field gave the ref red card than stripped naked with an advert on his back.

I had sort of forgotten about that guy . Yeah, in all fairness, the SPL (and its most recent reincarnation, as Bhoy reminds us) has only lost a great deal of its substantial relevance in the last 5 - 10 years, like you said. SPL is at its best when Rangers is viable.

Absolutely true. Don't care if TNBhoy thinks that makes me a bad Celtic fan. I want what is best for Celtic--and what's best for Celtic is for Rangers to be in the 1st div again.
