Wouldn't go that far, but it is a contingency offer IMO. Might end up with a small class.

I can't say I'm impressed with Grimes this far but I do think he needs another year before...

Get Willie Allen and all will be forgiven. Miss on him, and it's time to make a change.

I think next year will be more telling about his recruiting skills.

I don't know what you can call it, but there's a point when you start calculating the impact of a given year's recruiting class from beginning to end. I'm referring to the time when our coaches are first in contact with a recruit for a specific year, then following them throughout the process, all the way until the recruit steps foot on campus, the practice field, and ultimately the playing field then leaves. Further reducing it to a particular position within a class, take a look at where we are with O-Linemen for the 2015 recruiting class. Not very good. Everyone wants to make excuses and point to previous classes and ones to come (like next year). But where 2015 is concerned, you will never get it back, and it's going to hurt us at some point in this projected championship run over the next 2-3 years. IMHO, just selling OL recruits about the stable of RBs they could block for should be enough to get some of the elite O-Linemen in for a visit. We're not getting any of these 4-5 star guys to visit, except maybe Tillery, and we've known all along where that was headed. According to the recruiting sites, we're not even on these guys' radars. If Grimes isn't getting it done, Les should take charge of OL recruiting.

That Grimes really isn't that valuable to our staff. Flame away but we had a very talented OL this past year and they weren't dominant by any stretch. There's a reason Auburn fans didn't like him and Malzahn would not retain him.

He was implementing a completely new blocking scheme and we ran the ball all over a number of teams, all with a stacked box because of our inability to pass. People speaking negatively about Grimes boggle my mind. Let's see what he does next year on the field and recruiting and we'll have a better idea of what he is bringing to the table.

Grimes is a substantial improvement over his predecessor.

O-Line is byfar the hardest to project at the college level due to the fact that they have been the biggest and strong player on the field their whole HS career and haven't had to face people bigger and stronger than them consistently like they will at the college level. Thus, of all the positions I wouldn't worry about the star rating with O-linemen as they require the most time for development both physically and technically skill wise.

Grimes needs time to prove he can

1) Develope kids at LSU

2) Recruit the south

3) Consistently out scheme opponents

*** Mawae was mistake on Miles part IMO but I hopeful Grimes can give us what we need moving forward.

I agree with this. Didn't think much of the hire when it happened. Was never impressed with him at VT nor at Auburn. And I don't see him being a great recruiter. But, neither was Stud. Possibly a little better than Stud but not much.

I am bumping myself to eat crow. Great job by him. Criticize when its warranted but you have to give credit where it is due as well.

Some of us are worse than woman. Too much in our feelings about immediate.

Guy was trash yesterday and horrible at recruiting now irreplaceable and a great coach.

I think we put too much stock into individual things instead of looking at entire body of work.

Yea definitely. I'm still not declaring him a great coach by any means but he definitely proved he's not worthless.

Could be real interest, a back up plan, or just a smoke screen to disguise who we are really after.

Wonder if LSU is still as interested in Arnold with this latest OL commit?

And if you look at the OL committed, Grimes has done an impressive job.
