Bama didn't want him. So, now a 3 star?

I've said this many times: following any athlete on twitter is just pointless and idiotic, especially college athletes. Mainly it's motivational garbage or stuff they fire off in the heat of the moment and then later retract or delete.

Or they tweet something cryptic that has nothing to do with their sport, but gets taken in the context OF their sport and it's just a headache.

I think Williams moves to fullback along with Ducre to free up more playing time for Guice

twitter is awesome because it is the best at receiving updates/news as it happens

this. If you don't understand that or it's just not for you, so be it. But it gets you information immediately. Period. Nothing else tops it right now.

I love the "it's so hard to read" and "I don't speak a foreign language" crowd when it comes to twitter. I guess it can be a little confusing, but like anything, make a little effort and it's easy enough. If you rely on the evening news or sportscenter for breaking news, you're going to constantly be a couple of hours behind.

While that's true, you also have to watch who you are getting your info from. Crowd sourcing news sounds great, except for the fact that you end up with armchair experts who can suddenly gain a wider audience, even though they have absolutely no idea what they are doing or talking about.

Twitter on its own can be good if you know what you are doing and who you are following. However, I personally prefer places like Flipboard at this point. You can get that same news, but in a little more curated form if you set it up that way.

We have a great place to gather and discuss LSU games and sporting events here, but few other boards are this good. Most of that "in-game" discussion is happening on Twitter now. I love tweeting back and forth with fellow Grizzlies fans during games, for example. Although it has been abused and almost become a parody at this point, the hashtag is still the perfect tool to bring a diverse group together under a topic. This is still one of the strongest aspects of Twitter.

Someone's head is going to explode on this one, I'm sure.

the most useful is probably instantaneous access to information

Information that has already received a bunch of attention or information you happen to encounter in your feed (more or less randomly), which is constructed based on personal interests.

Sure, you have "instant access," but what kind of information do you have access to?

I think that is the point.

BTW I use Twitter. A lot.

It's like watching the story gestate. Sometimes it becomes something, sometimes not.

Ya'll all good

So you're going to tell us with a straight face that if Derrius Guice wanted to go to Bama, they wouldn't take his commitment?

Yes, but are you getting the full story? People encounter information on Twitter in three ways:

(a) A particular tweet or hashtag is popular and so it is made apparent to the user

(b) Random encounter in feed (you happen to be scrolling through)

(c) Purposeful engagement with a breaking news story (typically facilitated by hashtags, so see (a).

And then, of course, you have to account for individual motivations. Not everyone is a news junkie. Not everyone likes to be bombarded with information all the time.

No. I am telling you what Bone's insider report said.

fyi..If it was up to me I would take his commitment but it is not .

The point is that your information delivery platform is systematically biased in several ways. That is true of any information delivery platform but you should at least be aware of the ways in which your preferred platform is biased.

I don't care about the full story on twitter. I just want to know it's happening. The meat comes later when the initial mess is cleaned up.
