I'm guessing all of you complaining about reboots don't get it. Who goes to movies? 12-15 year olds (mostly girls, probably). Why do you think franchises get rebooted every 12-15 years? Also, who do 12-15 year old girls go to see at the movies? Channing Tatum, Robert Pattinson, Chris Pratt, Chris Hemsworth.....why do you think these guys get these roles? To sell tickets. Its not about the "art" anymore, its greed.

"To sell tickets" is why the first Indy movies were made as well. Very few movie makers or studios are doing it for the love of film alone...it's a business.

That part I get. And I understand WHY they'd want to reboot something that has already worked...because, um...it's already worked. It's easy to get money out of a project that has already, in theory, been shown to make money.

In most cases I have no problem with reboots, re-imagining of older works that had been turned into successful films (see the newer Wonka film) or even sequels. Just as a fan, I would prefer that there be some franchises that are simply so iconic that as much as we might LIKE to see more of them, there is just no way to recapture that magic.

I think you can recast James Bond...I think you'll see studios start to recast superheroes in order to continue their cinematic universe without having to reboot and do an origin story every ten years... But this character is more than what was written, more than the costuming, more than the set design...Indiana Jones worked because he was Harrison Ford.

Now...what I WOULD be on board with would be a really well done animated series in the vain of the ole Batman cartoon from the early 90's. Hand drawn, well voiced, lots of places to go with the story, etc.

I get that, and I agree. But you can't expect them to just sit on a wildly popular franchise and put one of the hottest names in it. Hell, for a while, everyone thought Shia Labeouf was the next Indy. What a trainwreck that would have been. Pratt has to be better than that.

As a fan, I expect exactly that. I get the why, but I think the studio also needs to prepare for the inevitable, and earned, backlash of rebooting a franchise for no other reason than making bank. There are lots of stories to tell in the world...

Sure...but that doesn't make it good. Like I said, I like Pratt and really think he's been good in what he's taken on...without having seen Jurassic World yet that is. And in terms of trying to find a guy's guy that's both funny and good with the ladies, he's as solid a choice as was Bradley Cooper. If Harrison Ford had simply been the first guy to play this role after it had been a long time series of novels, then I'd REALLY be ok with it. But Ford is so iconic in that role that they're clearly trying to recast HIM as much as they're trying to recast the character. That by itself out to be a red flag for why not to go that route in my opinion.
