Another couple wants us to go on a short trip to New Orleans with them. I'm looking at maybe April so we can hit up French Quarter Fest.

Any suggestions on best places to stay? Wouldn't mind finding a house in quarter we could rent together. Want something somewhat close to everything since the other lady is pregnant and probably won't want to walk all over the place.

NOT the Ambassador Hotel. That place is a heaping pile of shite.
Watch over your shoulder, carry your wallet in a front pocket, and bring a couple bullet proof vests and y'all should be just fine.

Enjoy NOLA!

You'd better find something with a great balcony view. Sounds like most of your time will be spent at the hotel.

Besides FQF, there's also the Indy Car races that weekend at NOLA Motorsports, so be prepared to pay a premium on hotels.

I hear there are a few good spots under the approach to the crescent city connection.

With it being French Quarter Fest time, you may be too late or at the least, have a difficult time finding a place. This sort of event is booked up for mths & mths ahead. Check out the Casino, it usually has rooms to rent & if you roll the dice just a few times, you can get a decent discount at times. Plus parking is free & it is easily in walking distance to the whole Fest.
