Sweet, should be a nice fling until all the bans are over.

Wow, this guy was a huge moron. And I like how he ignored the thought that more balls will be hit towards the wall because of less movement on pitches. 20 more homeruns is easily attainable for LSU this year.

Huge - will be interesting to see the long term effect in the majors, more for the pitchers & there development. Look at what the aluminum bat did in pitcher development at the next level.

I like how he said LSU only hits a ball to the warning track once out of every 5 games.

That means we hit 12 balls to the warning track all year

Yeah, I was gonna get to that point with him if he were still here.
12 warning track balls for the season? Does he watch college baseball?
Guess we need to get Russian to email Will Davis and find out the number of warning track balls last year.

I remember a few from the games against Houston alone.

Let's say LSU had 2 games out of 63 last year where they hit 2 balls to the warning track (number is probably a lot higher).

That means over the remaining 61 games, LSU would have hit the warning track 1 out of every 7 games

i wouldn't be surprised ,after a few seasons of obnoxious home-runs, if they discuss going to wooden bats, granted that you actually get 15 to twenty more feet out of them.

No way. Changes in college are mostly done for "safety" reason. Wood bats, when hit on the sweet spot, have a higher exit speed than the BBCOR's. Also, metal bat companies have too much money involved to let this get close to happening. It's not on the table.

Pitchers prefer this ball

I don't think so. Maybe some do. I talked to a former LSU pitcher, and he said he'd have been much less effective with the new balls, because he relied on those raised seams.

well let's think about the effect on pitching.
What if the ball had no seams? would a pitcher be able to spin the ball faster because there would be no seams to cause friction to slow the spin?
Would it be harder to spin the ball because it would be harder to get a good grip because there are no seams?
Would a ball spinning faster break more with no seams to catch the air? or less because there are no seams to catch the air?

Coach said 60 home runs as a total taking into account not only the new ball, but the seasoned beast in the box! Combine all that with a talented hungry hitting coach constructing the madness and you have a recipe for Gorilla.

you forgot that hopefully we have a few more games than we did last year to hit them in...

So how'd those 60+ home runs end up working out for us this year? Since I'm an idiot for saying that we were going to hit around 50 and all

ETA: just in case y'all forgot, we ended up hitting a whopping 10 more home runs even with a very improved lineup, nowhere close to the 20-25 that all of you baseball gurus were predicting

The bats are still big turds. Baseballs did little to cover that up.

How many more doubles and triples did we hit?

Doubles, triples, HRs, runs:

2014 - 117, 14, 41, 394

2015 - 146 (24.8% up), 23 (64.3% up), 51 (24.4% up), 451 (14.5% up)

How much change in competition did we have in 2014 vs 2015? It certainly seems like once we started facing better pitching the bats went cold. No Florida or Vandy series and a bad SC didn't help that.

You're only thinking of the last few weeks. Our SEC only batting average lead the league... link
