Reading the thread about the cops wanting to get rid of the Waze app. Honestly, I had never heard of the app before but am intrigued by it. Pretty much everybody I know uses Scout as their navigation app of choice. Many friends used to us Google Maps but switched over to Scout because Google Maps had failed us too many times. When Scout tells you to do something, you trust it and do it. Scout does not give information like speed traps and road hazards from broken down cars. I don't really know if it gets its information from user feedback or from DOT information, but it has steared me out of and around some nasty traffic snarls when up in Minneapolis/St. Paul, a city which is noted for having some of the nastiest traffic issues in the country.

Simple question, what is the best navigation app out there? I plan on downloading Waze and giving it a try.

I like WAZE when driving on the interstate. Usually spot on when you get the police alert.

I have it set with the Elvis voice, love to hear the " Ahh Police spotted ahead, baby!"

Been using Waze for several months and I love it. Tried several others before landing on Waze, and it has been significantly better than those prior choices. I use it locally and regionally. The cop reporting part works best on the Interstate, but there's some utility to using it on surface streets as well.

google maps is the best for trips/GPS usgae if you own a smartwatch. set navi - throw phone in the backseat and you get a brief vibration & notification on your watch screen every time you get close to a change in roads.

its really freaking sweet and way more subtle than a dumb-arse suction cup screen attached to your windshield.

having said that, waze is more accurate for wrecks and cops & in-town driving.

There isn't any app like "Waze" out there (to my knowledge)... I was like, "I want to buy stock in this company" and turns out they were acquired by Google...

I use Google maps. I just don't use the navigation feature much at all. No need to get all mad about it

liar.

anyone who lives in a city with traffic who doesn't turn on navi to see which routes are backed up before going home is a complete moron.

imo of course.

Good for you.

I live in the suburbs and have zero traffic on my way to and from work. There's absolutely no need for me to check the traffic.
