Employee killed his supervisor then himself at a NYC Home Depot. That's crazy, as a manager at Home Depot I can't wait to see what the internal message will be. Maybe it will send a message to stop hiring these sub-par supervisors who make life hell for all the peons.

You sound like my mom who works at the one in Slidell. Now I'll have to hear this for awhile from her.

Worked for a subsidiary (HD-Direct) over a decade ago. A Supervisor at Home Depot store is probably about a half a rung above a "peon".

True, just saying I've noticed a lot of the dept supervisors are dumb as rocks and they cover their shortcomings with less than positive tactics.

they lack appropriate leadership...

if you are a manager and your direct reports are shity to their employees, that reflects poorly on you as a manager.

I wouldn't let a single instance at a company with thousands of locations dictate policy especially as this type of event occurs periodically throughout the US. 2nd amendment does have it's drawbacks.

I am not surprised. I've never seen a more disgruntled pool of labor than that employed on Home Depot's front lines.

I remember hearing in like the late 90s that they started people off at around $20 an hour, they shouldn't be that pissed considering what they do if that is true.

well the manager probably was a major league douche bag if somebody murdered him and then killed themselves.

I have never sought employment there, but I'm willing to bet my genitals that this is not true.

I have to agree with your observation. It's a far cry from the mid to late 80's, when they had at least two associates in each department to help you find what you are looking for, or to give advise for your project.
