The most overrated burger in America.

You can say that about any place. if I want a great burger, I'll make it at home.

But I def like steak n shake way better than most places.

Originated where I live now. We don't eat there much. It is much better than Burger King and others but not as good as Whataburger and In&Out Burger.

Right now...Istanbul. Local food here is great, but every now and then I want a burger.

I'm so glad I saw this thread. There is one near me, but I always avoid it because it sounds like the type of place you pay 17 dollars for a burger and shake that is underwhelming. Sounds like I assumed incorrectly. I might grab some for dinner tomorrow.

we have them up here, but they are so common i guess they lose the appeal. the one i would go to is also located next door to a 5 guys so i just go there if im craving a quick burger.

our Steak n shake is also greasy as frick.

It's very good and the pricing is great for a family of 4. I can get out of there for around 20.

Yep, don't see the appeal. I don't see the appeal of In&Out and whattaburger either though. All these types of hamburger places are way overrated.

Love SnS. Always hit up Covington and Mobile on the way to and back from the beach. The kids like food and it doesn't hurt the wallet.

Our family loves this place. I do believe it was overpriced at one time, but now they have a $4 menu that makes it very reasonable.

Yes it's fast food, but it's much better than McDonalds, bk, etc. Good burgers for good price.

Where you have to be careful is on the milkshakes. Those are more expensive than burgers and I'm sure that's where they make their money.

I think the reason you don't see more of them is overhead and low margins. Those don't look like cheap buildings to build, commercial property is expensive, etc. I don't imagine they make much on the $4 menu, so from an investment standpoint I would be leery of starting that franchise locally.
