Yeah. There were a lot of movers and shakers that took the initiative and brought a lot of talents and energy to the table. But Washington and Franklin had a lot of heft when it came down to brass tacks.

Should of been 2 hours...definitely a lot of fiction, but entertaining

Ahh I see what the deal is. For some reason my Dish receiver has The Uprising listed as two one hour long episodes back to back with the exact same description in the info section so it only recorded the first one to avoid recording what it thought was a duplicate. Wtf Dish??

One thing people don't understand and why it took so long to get the Continental Congress to sign the Declaration of Independence is that all these men would have been hung for treason if they were captured of the colonies lost the war. Signing this document took a lot of guts.

Almost turned cartoonish last night with Gage going after the Doctor @ Bunker Hill.Sam Adams
portrayal was just about complete fiction.(Yea,i understand who was the primary sponser of the series)

Once again,History Channel butchers history.

Having said all that it was pretty well done.

All I know is, they made George Washington, a man who history roundly regards as one of the greatest leaders, motivators, organizers, speakers, etc. that the world has ever seen seem like he has been underrated by history.

And they made Sam Adams some kind of young, badass resistance fighter. He was a politician in his 50's around that time. Really enjoyed the series, but they took some major liberties. (no pun intended)

This mini series has stirred my soul. George Washington's address, quoting the Preamble of the Declaration of Independence to his troops, before they entered into battle at the end of the series last night brought tears to my eyes.

Here it is in its entirety:LINK

Those words still hold true for our times.

Sam Adams was mid-50s, not 25 or 30 as he appears in the mini-series, but he WAS a shitstirrer!

Joseph Warren was 34 when he was killed at Bunker Hill/Breed's Hill, so that actor was about the right age.

In 1775, Margaret Gage was a 41 year old mother of ELEVEN! I'm willing to bet that she didn't look quite as good as the mid-20s actress portraying her.

Gen Gage was a great character in this show, but only vaguely based on reality. It's highly unlikely that he would have been that far forward on the battlefield, much less dismounted and hunting down Warren.

Bumping for BugAC.

I've long ago quit expecting anything other then outright documentaries to be accurate and don't even always take those at face value.

So the liberties they take don't bother me. I look on it more as historical fiction.

Watched a Fury on DVD last night and they had a trailer for a The a Equalizer, which I watched 2 weeks ago. Did not realize that the actor who portrayed Gage was also the head Russian crime boss in Equalizer.

Exactly. At least that show accurately represents the people in which it portrays.
