I am in a program for school requiring the use of SAS. This shite is making me want to fricking hang myself. For experienced SAS users how long did it take for you to get comfortable with writing the code?

SAS is not needed in the real world. What kind of CS program are you in? Focus on scripting Ruby and Perl.

From wiki

SAS develops and markets a suite of analytics software (also called SAS), which helps manage, access, analyze and report on data to aid in decision-making. The company is the world's largest privately held software business and its software is used by most of the Fortune 500.

Depends on the complexity of the data and analysis. Easy stuff took a few months. Complex took years.

IMHO, using enterprise guide is the BEST way to learn to code SAS today. I worked in base SAS for years to become truly proficient but my coding ability went to plaid with the introduction of EG.
