What? They fired josh Gordon after his first failed test? And yes plenty of work places test for alcohol...

ETA: people know what their workplace will test for and other rules they have and millions upon millions of people follow those rules everyday. It doesn't matter if you agree with the rule, you simply know you have to follow it and choose if you do so

He is retarded for failing it when there is millions at stake.

People are more retarded for calling him a drug addict for weed and alcohol

The nfl is the most retarded for testing people for alcohol use, a completely legal activity anywhere, for an offense that is a completely different situation from just drinking.

Enlighten me, I'm not aware of anywhere that outlaws alcohol use alone. He could have been drinking at home and still failed.

People are missing the point. It's not that he got caught with alcohol, it's that he violated his contract, that is the big deal. He has every right to drink alcohol by law, but not by his employer.

He might not have killed someone but he definitely could have. Same thing in the courts. If you fail a drug test for alcohol while on probation or pretrial you get punished. Regardless of your age.

You don't get tested for alcohol use while on probation for a dui, at least in LA this is true. Maybe if you have like 7 dui's they may, but I've never heard of it.

ETA: I know of someone that got busted for dealing that got tested for alcohol but he agreed to it in plea deal, that's the only time I've heard of such a thing.

I know for a fact you do if you're in the pretrial diversion program

Alcohol wasn't posted in the title when I made the post.
I didn't sign a contract or conduct policy saying that I wouldn't.

If I had signed the contract, then I would be in the wrong. I would pissed, but nothing I could do about if I had agreed to the conditions in the contract and that was one of the conditions.

I think everyone understands that

Just like with the weed shite last year, no one is saying he ISN'T an idiot.

The problem, which I think most can agree, is how absurd the NFL's policies are

You can get suspended a year for alcohol but Ray McDonald can beat the piss out of his pregnant GF and almost play a year before he NFL finally steps in?

The NFL is a privilege, not something to be taken for granted, but the hypocrisy always makes me laugh

I've known many people in pretrial diversion in Orleans, jefferson, and Baton Rouge. I've never heard of that. They definitely give you a panel test for cannabis, amph, cocaine, etc, but I've never heard of them getting tested for alcohol.

I've taken alcohol swab tests at work during a random drug screen...

You said that alcohol is legal anywhere, and it's not

I'm not saying he isn't a dumb frick. He is; it should not be that hard to stop doing ANYTHING if you have anything near what he has on the line.
Doesn't change the fact that the test itself is dumb to me as well. It's like testing ray rice's biceps for forceful hand motions for the past 3 days.

The NFL does their own testing as well...

that's precisely my point

I can go on and on

People want to argue ehhh it's only weed/alcohol but rules are rules so he shouldn't do it..

OK, what about the Patriots...Yeah it's only videoing some signs and it's only messing around with the pressure of the ball....but rules are rules so don't do it?

I don't see Belicheck serving a 26-game suspension for multiple rules violations

In Georgia you can get drug tested for 6 months for a lowly MIP.
