this team has a better chance of not making the tourney than making the elite 8.

has about a 60% chance of making the tourney. so 40% not making.

As for making the elite 8, there is a non-zero chance LSU is in the 11-11 play in game. If that happens, LSU plays an extra game vs an evenly matched team just to get to the round of 64.
as 11, they play the 6. They will be dogs in that game, but we will give them 45% chance of winning.
not even counting the 50% chance of losing the 11 11 game because they may be an 8,9, or 10, or 12, they have about a 50% chance of losing in the round of 64. Then they will play a better team in the round of 32. If they are a 8/9, they will be playing Virginia, a #1 seed, or the 2nd place ACC team if Duke and virginia both get #1 seeds. They do not have a 50/50 chance of beating a 1 seed. let's go with 30% chance to beat the opponent, a 1, 2, or 3 seed. 30% of 50% = 15% to get to the round of 16, where they will play a 1 or 2 or 3 depending on their seeding. another 30%. we are down to 4.5% chance to get to the round of 8.

THEREFORE, it is MORE LIKELY that LSU is not in the NCAA tournament than LSU is in the round of 8.

You can make up any seed you want to for LSU, from 8 to 12 and use whatever percentages you like, based on a couple of upsets, so that LSU does not have to play the 3, because the 14 takes them out. its STILL going to be under 10% to get to the round of 8.

So LSU should fire him????? You are an idiot behind a keyboard who has a grudge...

Bottom line is that he is NOT coaching the way YOU want him to..... So I guess Trent Johnson is a better coach????

See, this is why you're dumb. Why do you keep making this about me vs. JJ? It's not. I'm an LSU fan. I'm making the point that an Elite 8 with JJ on the sidelines is asking a LOT. That was the point of the original post, right? To say that LSU will make the elite 8? You think coaching doesn't have something to do with that?? Lol.

JJ is a recruiter with ties to some people who can get players on the sideline. Period. Great. But, that's the extent of it. Can he develop into a game coach? Perhaps. But right now, in a tight game in a big atmosphere (read: tourney game) he's going to get abused by a tactician who will plan a defense to take Martin and Mickey out of their game. Good coaches can counter that. JJ does not. It's not a grudge. It's just a fact.

Ok now you are making sense and I agree. But you keep saying that he would be the worst coach in the whole tourney is a joke....

Where did I say it didn't???? LOL....

BTW You haven't answered my question about Billy Donovan..He must really suck for JJ to take his team to FLA and blow them out right... I guess coaching had NOTHING to do with it right????

Great coaches lose games...but you still know he's a great coach. Bad coaches have teams that win games. Your argument is silly, at best.

You thinking that IF LSU makes the field of 64 that JJ will be the worst coach is silly at best.... WE get it. You think JJ is a shite coach who shouldn't have a job right now at the high school level....

AGAIN who is a better coach??? JJ or Trent Johnson????

You want to know whats funny about you and the 06 team? You state that this team has NO shot at the elite 8/not even make the tourney, yet you go on and on about how much better coached the 06 team was.

Heres the 06 teams record going into conference play. 8-5. 1 good win at WVU (coincidence? I think not) and losses which include Northern Iowa, Houston, and post Bob Huggins Cincy team.

They had 2 5 star freshman-Magnum Rolle, Tasmin Mitchell. Mature 5 star Glenn Davis. Koundija was also a 5 star. Then lucked into Tyrus having a late growth spurt and maturing into a lotto pick. Mickey will not be a lotto pick no matter when he comes out. Mitchell Temple Mitchell Thomas Davis is more talented and versatile then any 5 man line up we can put out there. Tack Minor and Gray are about the same. Arguably we are currently deeper at 1-3 but the 06 team would destroy this one down low.

Ultimately what Im saying is give this team time. They are coming together. Plus that 2006 team was as or more talented then this one was.

I kept telling him that DMich was 1st team all sec and he kept saying we were romanticizing DMitch. Yeah, us and the 2006 sec coaches romanticized Mitchell into all sec .

Popcorn-Was/Is your opinion of Dale Brown the same as it is with Jones? Because I see very similar patterns in both of them.

Coach Brown wasn't the best coach in the tourney and even had teams that ON PAPER shouldnt have competed against big bad Kentucky but yet they took them down on the biggest stage.

I would be willing to bet if you ask half the coaches in the 64 team field would they rather face this LSU team or pick someone else to play, they would go with the someone else choice. JMO

They need to stay OUT of foul trouble! I like the way they play tough down the stretch - except for AtM game - which is only game I went to in person. Of course, Gray was running the show then. This is Qtman & Patterson's team now. Gray can come off bench and contribute but he NEEDS to play well when he is on the court. Gray could be a great weapon for LSU if used properly and sparingly IMHO. Geaux Tigers!

Why are we including tac minor for bench when he didn't play one minute that season? Someone else mentioned Regis koundjia, he wasn't on the team either.

I'll acknowledge that when a team barely wins their games and never blows anyone out, then maybe they're not a great team, even though they win.

But Kentucky is undefeated, has blown out many, many teams, and is clearly one of the top teams in the country. That being said, they have a big target on their back and will get intense competition every game they play.

Over the course of a long season, they'll have stretches where they eke out wins against lesser teams. But that doesn't mean they're the equal of those lesser teams.
