He's one of the top recruiters in the country and was a really good coach as well. He produced quite a few NFL guys on the DL at Cal. Not sure how he'll be as an OLB coach though. I could be wrong, but I don't think he's ever coached anything but the DL.

He was under investigation at Washington for recruiting violations, but they were proven to be bogus and he was cleared of everything.

It is a wash. They are both solid coaches and off the charts as far as recruiting goes.

he was a very good DE coach at cal and washington, fantastic recruiter. our olbs play as DEs more often than not now, so i think his skillset is going to transfer just fine. he wouldnt have to be that good to be a better on field coach than lance thompson though
