Why is Nintendo having such a problem keeping merchandise in stock?

There are many things Nintendo has released or is planning on releasing that have gone out of stock like CRAZY. Specifically the amiibos. Why is that? Did they not anticipate this much demand or is it just a matter of something else? Same thing happened at the Nintendo World event with Hyrule Warriors.

Thoughts?

As for as amiibos, they underestimated people's love for stupid plastic trinkets.

They don't send enough to North America.

It's been a weak market for them this generation other than a couple of games and amiibos.

Just not a thoughtful we'll run company. People love their products and games but I've seen a bunch of weird stuff about them just doing odd things and people are pretty fed up.

Fed up Wasnt the correct phrase. But people are not happy with a lot of Nintendo practices. It's not even like their being greedy, just a complete disconnect between fans and the company.

They have a history of this going back to the NES. Not sure if that's happening here but it's very possible.

I'm more pissed about the lack of GameCube adaptors. Have been playing Smash Bros like a fricking heathen with a Pro Controller. I itch for that controller when playing it.

This generation started out VERY slow because of their horrible marketing for the Wii U. Once everyone figured out that it was a completely different console from the Wii and that they needed it to play Mario Kart 8 and other new games, they started selling like wildfire. They may not sell as many consoles as Microsoft or Sony but in the end I think they will have the largest profit margin from this generation.

I've never had that experience with Nintendo. Their customer service is top notch and any time I've had a problem with a console, I've sent it to them to be repaired and when it was sent back, the price for repair was $50 less than the estimate. They don't screw their customers out of money.

Considering they discontinued 3 models after their initial shipment sold out, I'm pretty sure it's part of it.

You misspelled Gamecube Adapter. That thing is still impossible to fricking find unless you have a golden horseshoe up your arse and happen to be on Amazon for the 30 seconds they have inventory once every few weeks.

I think Nintendo has been blue balling their fans for so long with their first party titles that when they finally have an awesome line up, fans are freaking blowing their load and their wallet to get all of it. Nintendo should've expected this with 2 major zelda titles coming out AND star fox AND Splatoon AND Fire Emblem.

God damn.

Well they're not going to have to worry about losing money on making too many products.

If Nintendo was the size of Microsoft and Sony, they'd be murdering their sales right now.

It's crazy how Nintendo can stay afloat on just first party games alone.

They've not made a profit in at least 2 years.

Nope, last Gen was the only recent one they were the top dog on the market. GameCube got crushed and the N64 lost a ton of marketshare to Sony. WiiU looks likes it's going to be GameCube 2. The Wii captured a lot of casual gamers that never came back.
