I mentioned what I would pitch and purposely left out "the human factor". There is a reason that Orgeron and Shields have won the National Recruiter Award and Haley and Chavis never did. Humans make a difference making the pitch...Alabama having won more NC than any one in college football makes a difference, etc.

Oh, and LSU fortunately is able to sign top WRers because they are LA kids. How many hot shot WRers has LSU signed from outside the state of LA with our current passing game (sans 2013)? I can't remember any in the last several years. TEs...the same deal. So yes, location makes a difference. Fortunately, Lewis and Peters are in a neighboring state for example. As far as RBs, LSU should be near the top of running backs list....so what if they are 2nd string or 3rd string for a year? LSU runs the ball so much that it means being 2nd or 3rd string RB at LSU equals you touching the ball MORE than 1st string RB at most other schools.

How many have they offered/recruited?

Louisiana has been stacked with WR talent the past couple of years: Malachi Dupre, Speedy Noil, Trey Quinn, and Tyron Johnson.

Did we need to go outside the state? No.

Even still we signed a 4* from Texas, Upchurch, just last year.

I get what you are saying, but it seems like a bit of a circular argument.

Brandon Lafell was way back in 2005 AND he was a 3*. Toliver by the other poster was a better example but still back in the 2007 class. That is a pretty old example...not from 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015. Upchurch as someone else mentioned was 3* on both Rivals and 24/7 and around the 50th best WRer accoridng to 24/7 composite.

Straying off topic at this point...I still say that LSU has an excellent chance at Lewis, Peters, and Jefferson for the logic already stated.

Why would LSU recruit OOS for WRs if they haven't had to?

LSU hasn't always had the luxury of having among the best WRers in the nation being from LA. Soooo, you recruit the best whereever they are from in the beginning. Then obviously, you narrow it down based upon your own camp evaluation and if they are interested in LSU. 2012 and 2013 are examples where if you believe the services, LA didn't have highly rated WRers.

"hot shot WRers"
O'd say starting in the Super Bowl will make Lafell a Hot Shot by any standard. LA also had the #1 and #3 WR in the nation last year, so why look oos. Aside from the fact that all of the WRs we have signed over the last 10 years have had exceptional offer lists and none were in prison and therefore eligible to leave the state.......

Right, that is why I posted the message I did. You and I are both correct. You said Upchurch was 4* which he was in the lowest possible composite way (89+ is 4*), and I said he was 3* on 24/7 which you just showed and also he was a medium 3* (5.6) on Rivals. And the position rankings of 45 to 57...I just split the difference and said 50th among WRers.

I am happy LSU signed Upchurch. Having said that, LSU was his only major offer the way I remember it.

Huh? The topic was not NFL pro career. The topic was ratings out of HS. I obviously dispute the "all of the WRers we have signed over the last 10 years have exceptional offer lists"....really?

Tony Upchurch, Kavahra Holmes, D J Chark, Kevin Spears. Look them up. All 4 of these are in direct contradiction with the statement I quoted...I only went back a very few years BTW.

well fk, way to ruin my day dude. I had been having positive vibes about this class having some huge surprises at the end with all this momentum from the recent hires, especially with some of these analysts talking about the surprises as well. I guess I can go ahead and lower my expectations and excitement level.

LOL. It's fking comical how some on this board throw things out there as if fact. You have absolutely no idea what you are talking about...maybe they will get some surprise recruits, maybe they won't...but I do know that you are full of shite.

You might be right about Lewis, but we are on the outside looking in with Jefferson.

I explicitly stated it was an opinion. Nothing I stated is fact. Saying that we are too late to the party is not me wishing us to fail. I hope we flip everybody. It's just my opinions on what's out there from all the other sites. I set my expectations low because of 2 for 5. Killed my recruiting spirit. The OP was about Leo Lewis, CeCe Jefferson, and Demarkus Lodge. I think we have an outside shot at Lewis and no shot at the other 2. Orgeron with a full recruiting cycle will be dangerous.

Nobody has a clue how we stand with any of these guys except for the coaches and they aren't even 100%. Look at last year and people thought they knew about who Miles was going to hire for DC and he surprised everyone.. So signing day is close enough

Not to mention T Bowers who LSU was very, very late on and NO ONE gave LSU a shot to sign him. Remember it was supposedly down to Auburn and Florida...mainly Florida.

Anybody for example who CLAIMS that CeCe Jefferson is Auburn and Florida and wants to stake his life on it, please give me time to build my guillotine. That is utter nonsense...no one knows! Remember all the recent CB predictions for Jefferson to Ole Miss? In fact according to 24/7 CB predictions, it would be Florida 1st and Ole Miss 2nd...Auburn is a distant, distant 3rd. As you said, NO ONE knows...unless Jefferson knows.
