The character Bill Simmons plays in the media is basically a fan that knows enough to sound smart but just says stuff for reaction... With a rolodex. It is a conscious schtick to sound like someone "we all know..." but with a rolodex.
The actual Bill Simmons is clearly a bright and respected guy with connections.
I listen to him completely depending on his guest, and I pretty much ignore him.

I don't agree that it is a widely held opinion. Certainly you are entitled to yours but you've not backed it up in any way
his dustup with doc rivers was juvenile yes, but grounded in the truth that rivers bailed on the celtics and lied about it
