I'm sure it was a compromise because of what happens at the extremes. If you sign a guy near the All Star Break then maybe you have him wrapped up for 15-20 days over 5 games, if you sign a guy when you have 4 games in 5 nights, that's not enough time to get comfortable with the team and show them what you can do.
As for this thread, it looks like Simon was right based on the comments of Joel and David, they appear to have chosen Wolters over Jimmer.
