Benson's family claims mental incompetence

The shocking struggle for control of the New Orleans Saints and Pelicans escalated Thursday (Jan. 23) as family members associated with Rita Benson LeBlanc filed a lawsuit claiming that the teams' owner and family patriarch Tom Benson is incompetent and is being directed by a manipulative wife and her allies at the highest level of the sports empire.

The suit was filed one day after Tom Benson unexpectedly announced plans to transfer future ownership of the clubs to wife, Gayle, cutting off his daughter, Renee LeBlanc, and his two grandchildren, Ryan LeBlanc and Rita Benson LeBlanc, who until recently had been designated as the heir apparent.

The legal battle lays bare the internal strife within one of Louisiana's richest families and its highest profile business owners, pitting Benson and his wife of 10 years against his adopted daughter and her children.

1. When will Rita play the lesbian card?

2. And when will Holder bring the DOJ in?

Seems a little weird to me that he'd give the team to his third wife rather than family...

An exhibit in the court filing shows Benson sent a signed letter on Dec. 27 to his relatives saying they had become “offensive” and did not “act in an appropriate manner,” creating a heartbreaking family situation he would not tolerate. He then demanded they cease all contact with him, and he banned them from entering Saints and Pelicans facilities or attending games. He also banned them from offices, car dealerships and television facilities he owns.

Without any real knowledge of the situation, this phrase stuck out to me the most...

Well, first of all, she is family.

Second, Gayle is awesome. Everyone loves her. She's competent and likable.

Rita, on the other hand, is a total count. Everyone hates her. She's gone through 30 assistants in 6 years. Sean Payton allegedly has said he will resign when she got the team.

The rest of the family has NEVER shown an interest or wanted anything to do with the teams until very recently, when they have come crawling on his last days.

When all other options have been exhausted. You never want to play your trump card first.

From awhile back:

quote:

Benson, according to sources, reached a breaking point near the end of the 2011 season and felt it was necessary to deliver a wake-up call to his 35-year-old granddaughter. No single incident led to the action, they said. Instead, Benson saw it as a pattern of behavior that needed to be corrected.

Unnamed sources cited LeBlanc’s “lack of focus and abrasive management style.” Apparently she has gone through 30 personal assistants just in the last six years, a stunning figure if accurate. While she was complimented for her talent and smarts, LeBlanc’s sense of entitlement was what irked her grandfather, according to the report.

It's commonly known around these parts that Rita is irrational and said to be nearly impossible to work with. She's been moved around to different parts of the organization multiple times hoping to find somewhere she fits but that hasn't proved to help much

Carroll Rosenbloom (March 5, 1907 – April 2, 1979) was an American businessman. He was the owner of two National Football League franchises; he was the first owner of the Baltimore Colts, and later switched teams, taking ownership of the Los Angeles Rams.
quote:

Death and ensuing controversy

While swimming at Golden Beach, Florida, Rosenbloom drowned on April 2, 1979. He was 72. Though Dr. Joseph H. Davis, the Dade County coroner, stated, "there is not one scintilla of reason to believe this is anything other than an unfortunate accident," a PBS Frontline documentary called "An Unauthorized History of the NFL" suggested that Rosenbloom, a known gambler, may have been murdered, causing conspiracy theorists to question the case.

The final conclusion was that Carroll, who had been one of the first heart bypass patients, had suffered a heart attack while swimming. Witnesses at the scene and the Miami coroner's office and the Miami chief of police confirmed this finding.
quote:

After Rosenbloom's death, his second wife, Georgia Frontiere, inherited a 70% ownership stake in the Los Angeles Rams. Rosenbloom's five children inherited the other 30%.

Frontiere's inheritance came as a surprise to many fans (though not to close friends and family) who thought Steve Rosenbloom, the former owner's son from a previous marriage and the Rams' vice-president, would take a leadership role in the team's management. It was not a surprise to close friends and family because Rosenbloom was trying to take advantage of the widow's tax exemption. There was a draft of Rosenbloom's will was also to be changed so the team would be left to his son Steve, however, it was never executed.

First off, isn't his "daughter" from his first marriage (the mother of Rita) adopted?

She's a count. Everyone hates her. She's been publicaly reprimanded by the organization twice. She has allegedly gone through 30 assistants in 6 years.

Multiple reports say that Sean Payton absolutely hates her with a passion and will not work for her.
