Who will Saban tab to replace him? Will he promote from within or will he go after someone from somewhere else - like Georgia's DC Pruitt?

Bill Clark. That is why Saban had the BOT shut down the UAB program.

Well done.

I am surprised that guy isn't already hired somewhere yet though.

Goddamn I would be pissed

He should be our DC. Clark and Orgeron would be a helluva combo.

Things seem to have been smoothed over since Pruitt had choice words after leaving in 2012. He's an Alabama guy afterall. I expect him back someday.

That would take a lot of $$. Pruitt's got a pretty sweet deal right now with serious influence on the direction of the program. I'm not sure he'd want to leave that to go work under Saban again. His ego is huge.

I didn't necessarily mean under Nick Saban.

Well, Kirby only makes about $600K more than Pruitt, so I'm sure $$$ wouldn't be a problem in luring him to Bama if the time came to attempt it.

but he played ball, graduated, got his start in coaching, and his first big break at Bama. That matters. Also, he had influence in recruiting in a major way while at Bama.

so is a $600K raise and the lure of all i mentioned in the comments above.

Gotcha. I was thinking if Smart left today.

I do think Pruitt will likely go back to Alabama one day, either as HC or DC.

Kirby makes $1.9M now?

Same could have been said for Kirby Smart and UGA in 2009. Pruitt is legitimately collaborating with Richt on staff hires and basically hand-picked the majority of new S&C and support staffers since his arrival. That's a lot different than recruiting.

It's not impossible, but I think it's unlikely that he would leave now.

With the exception of the 20 yard indoor practice facility?

He's a big part of the reason that a full size one is about to get built. He went spouting off to the media about it, and the boosters and fans turned their guns on McGarity and the administration.

Nope. He makes just under $1.4M, which was approx $500K more than Pruitt.
