These are some post game quotes from the Pelicans app so no link. We've seen him capable of thinking pass first, but it's just that, thinking, his natural instinct is:

quote:

Just keep being aggressive. I'm doing a good job at it. That's how it is. (I just try to) put the pressure on them and get fast-break points.

This isn't a bash Tyreke thread, I'd be fine with him as a long term 6th man if we don't keep Ryno, but he is what he is even though we need him to be a PG for the next 1-3 months.

Would you say the best year of his career was when he played PG as a rookie?

Dude was such a perfect fit in Calipari's offense as a PG.

Shouldn't all the players know all the plays anyway?

Yep. He doesn't necessarily even need to be the lead guard, but Calipari's dribble-drive offense absolutely maximizes what Tyreke does. George Karl actually hired the guy that Calipari adapted his system from when they had those potent offensive teams in Denver.

I just don't think the dribble drive offense will ever be that effective against playoff-caliber defense.

Yes, but the lead guard has to know everyone's role in the offense, versus just his own. It's similar to football. The WR only needs to know the routes that he needs to run, or occasionally how his route interacts with other route trees, whereas the QB needs to know the full route trees, protection schemes, and audibles based on defensive alignment.
