Chris Collinsworth, now a color analyst but formerly a wide receiver for the gators and the Bengals, once told this pretty amusing story behind his recruitment.

Bear Bryant was trying to recruit him so he called him up one morning. His mom didn't even wake him up. She told Bryant to call back later.

(I think she didn't even know who he was.)

Collinsworth eventually chose Florida.

Can you imagine being a football recruit and a legendary coach calls you and your mom doesn't even wake you up to take the call?

Bear only called him once?

Recruiting was so much different then.

Collinsworth is awake and at full attention at the mere mention of the Seattle Seahawks or anyone involved with the organization.

I'm sure bear was drunk and she didn't want to expose her son to that.

Have you read "It Never Rains in Tiger Stadium"? The author, a HS center, was gonna be offered by Coach Mac. Mac called the HS office and said he wanted her to announce on the intercom "Teachers, would you please send 'name' down to the office to receive a call from Coach Mac of LSU."

The secretary said "I'm sorry but our intercom is not working." Mac said "I'll call tomorrow when it's fixed."

He did. It sealed the deal.
