I'm a casual follower of recruiting, so explain to what makes Frank and Coach O the monsters that everyone says they are? What goes into it? Is it more of a relational thing? Blood, sweat, and tears effort? Knowing how to sell your school?

I imagine all of the above. Is there something different with these two?

Personality of a salesman, but not sleazy.

And tons of energy and effort.

Orgeron has all 3.

I think it's a combination of:

Great personality, someone who's easy to trust
Fully believe in what you're selling to recruits
Know the right things to say
Lots of energy and effort

Nailed it.

I was coming to type:
-Room commanding charisma
-Genuine in sales pitch
-Trustworthy & relate-able
-Informed & honest
-Passionate & driven

1. Working Hard all year long and enjoying recruiting
2. understanding kids and families and relating to them
3. being organized and knowing which kids you should recruit and which you shouldn't…prioritization

that is it.

Great list! This might fall partly into some of your items but Orgeron showing Prince Tega a couple of DL moves before I believe the HS coach got to the meeting at his house IMO was a HUGE deal! That is just something extra...even the HS coach brought it up. Also, you have to be persistent without being annoying.

A recruiting analogy might be that Steele and Orgeron seem like "pigs in a blanket" guys while Chavis seems like finger foods. You can't just sit back and expect things to fall your way.

I did not know where to go to ask this question---------but what does a ship load of poker chips heading upriver from New Orleans with, "To: LSU Athletic Department" have to do with recruiting?
