What was the NCAA's reasoning for giving JoePa the wins back?

Serious question. I never really saw.

I wish I could say I'm surprised that he gets his wins back but schools like OSU and USC can't because they had players getting free tattoos or receiving money/benefits in a legal manner. But, the NCAA is a joke of an organization so it doesn't come as a shock.

It is the NCAA. Why bother looking for a reason?

What was their lawsuit against? Was it pertaining to how the NCAA handled the whole investigation?

The NCAA emails on the subject were shedding a bad light on what the NCAA did during with the investigation. The NCAA settled the case with the defendants so the lawsuit would stop and no more shite come out about their actions, they likely would have lost the suit.

JoePa didn't rape the little kids, an assistant coach did. JoePa deserved to keep his accomplishments

I am no legal expert but it was something about the NCAA not having the authority to do what they did, handled inappropriately other legal stuff that is way over my head.

He didn't know. When you think you know a person well your mind will tell you things aren't what you see. I'm sure he was convinced everything was ok. Should he have been allowed to keep his job after? No of course not. But don't strip away the man's life accomplishments. That's what killed the man

He was already dead. He died in jan of '12 and the sanctions were announced just prior to the '12 season (IIRC).

Well if you think he was more torn from losing his wins than "finding out" that one of his best friends was a complete monster and waste of human life, then I think that says a lot about his character, and also whether or not he had some prior knowledge of the situation..

So JoePa brainwashed Sandusky into raping those kids? Damn you're a smart one. Go do some research before you make stupid analogies

Exactly, it was not the fault of the players on the field that won games. Why punish them for something that gave them ZERO advantage on the field.

Riiiight. That's why he promoted the guy who said he saw the DC diddling a kid in the shower. He was just a confused old man.

bullshite. He's a football coach, not a detective or a police officer. Sandusky wasn't on staff, and Joe reported the incident.

The NCAA never did an investigation, they relied on a report by the same guy(Freech) that investigated Goodell. That investigation didn't interview the President, the athletic director or Joe Paterno. The people that did the report said-

quote:

A member of the team that produced a 267-page report condemning the response of Pennsylvania State University's leaders to a serial child molester believes that the NCAA's use of that document was insufficient to justify the punishment it handed the university this week

Other internal emails of the NCAA had their officials staying that they were bluffing Penn State, because they didn't really have the authority in the NCAA by-laws to do what they did.
