OB opinion on the best scope in the $400 range. Will be mounted on a Browning 30.06 Safari. Normal shots are generally no longer than 200 yards with average shot 125 to 150 yards.

Also, anyone have any info on any post hunting season clearance deals on scopes in particular and any hunting equipment in general?

TIA

Leupold VX II or something similar is what I would recommend.

I have bought a couple from optics planet dot com, and I always feel like I get a good deal.

$299 marked down from $374

Although they have begun to be phased out, if you can find a Zeiss Conquest 3-9x40, that's the way to go. I would stay away from the Zeiss Terra 3x line though as they're a cheaper build scope.

Scope on EuroOptics - $329

Make sure and read ALL the specs because it's easy to order one and realize you didn't get exactly what you wanted.

Color, reticle type, zoom, objective size, etc. are all important differences even though the different models are priced similar.

Solid advice

Last scope I purchased I was dead set on a Zeiss, once I did a lot of research I purchased a Burris. It fit my shooting setup better for a few reasons. And it was less expensive.

I've bought a number of optics through the years from Mid South Shooters Supply and Natchez Shooters Supply and have always been pleased w/ price and service.

Clyde: is this the scope you were suggesting?
