I'm looking into a CZ 452 Ultra Lux. Supposedly they are incredibly accurate with the open sights - no scope needed? I'm intrigued by using this as an introduction to shooting with my children.

I have a 452 american, mine has a scope. At 50 yards its very accurate.

Your kids should have no issue shooting the cz accurately.

Id get a 455 if possible, there barrels arent threaded into the receiver like the 452 making barrel upgrades a cinch.

I've shot a couple of CZ 22's

All were extremely nice IMO.

They are great little rifles. See if you can find a 453, it has a single set trigger. No longer made, so you'd have to find one on gun broker.

I have a 455 varmint with the .22lr barrel. By far the most accurate .22 I have ever shot.

My 452 Lux is really accurate. I have a scope on shoot through rings so I can use both. Best I've ever done close was 25 rounds in a single hole @ 25 yards. At 50, I can usually get 1" 5-shot groups. All using 22 Thunderbolts believe it or not. Haven't run any match ammo through it yet and haven't shot further than ~75 yards yet. IIRC, it has an adjustable trigger, but it was perfect out of the box. I think the iron sights also adjust to 200m

Buy one. You'll love it and so will the kids. Just make sure they don't frick it up

I'm probably overthinking it but I browsed a CZ/Rimfire forum this morning where some guys were thumbing their noses at the 455 due to the "plastic spacer" (their words). You have any thoughts on that?

I wouldn't touch the barrel. People use the stock barrel in competitions, and if you want more accurate than that, get an Anschutz. Bullet quality will be a problem before barrel

The basic looking trigger guard keeps me from buying a CZ. That an the square notch for the bolt handle. Just preferences on my part.

Meh, about all I got. Im a tinkerer and even though my 452 shoots awesome. One day ill have the barrel changed over to a lilja.

Plastics have come a long way. I dont really see the issue with it.

Im not saying change the barrel either, just that in the future its a simple chage for a 455, where the 452 is going to be a $4-500 process.

I would definitely recommend getting one. The fun factor will be ratcheted up a few notches.

I have a 455 American with the interchangeable barrels, .22LR and .17HMR. It is a great shooting gun.

To anyone who was doubting the 452, I just went and did 25 yard 20 shot groups (2 mags). Most were ~.75", but this is my best. Adjusted scope after, but my contacts were getting dry and eyes tired.

One flyer was this dude falling into the divider at the range (8 o'clock), and the other one was just me (9 o'clock). The one by the 8-ring was when I was walking the scope down, so not in this group. I don't think I could've done any better unless I used a bipod. As shown, the rifle is better than me

Not that it mattered at that distance, but most of those were with cheap Aguila Pistol Match. Shot Winchester subs also with the same result.

Trying to go shoot at 100 this weekend. Have some Eley Match and some Federal Ultra Match that I'm gonna use for that

You use the scope or shoot thru sights today? What scope do you have on it?
