I bought this beauty yesterday. Anyone else own it? The tracks on this are mostly rarities (80 percent of I have found in some form or another), but there are some really great remixes/radio sessions on here.

Wasn't cheap...and I don't buy stuff like this hardly ever but I had to get. 6 discs...90 plus tracks.

Their 12" remixes were the best.

Wildflower (Rock Mix)

Firewoman (NYC Mix)

Have both of those. Picked up my rare cult a couple months ago for around $150. They were 15,000 of them made. Mine has a seventh disc which means it is from an earlier run that included it.

The white collection I have had for many years. Really good stuff.

only thing I'm missing is the rare cult demo sessions. the demo sessionsIt looks just like rare cult but says demo sessions underneath. It is the priciest of them all. Only 3000 made. On Amazon right now for @$1350!

Saw them 4 times over the last 18 months. They hold their own against many of other bands.

What is that Cdawg? Is that another RARE set? I think I saw it earlier. I think the playlist is even better on that one.

I have seen them twice ; most recently, I caught them at HOB 2 Augusts ago. They played Electric and then some of the typical stuff. What I would LOVED to see is a show that is devoted to the 1983-1986 stuff...see them perform the songs that went on the Manor Sessions and those that intended to also go on Electric. I admit, I have not liked them much since Sonic Temple came out. I honestly only love their stuff from Dreamtime to Manor Sessions cd.

I have to draw a line somewhere and most of that stuff was later on. Good find, though...you should buy it and let us know.

I really am perplexed at how tracks like "The Snake" and "Zap City (demo version)" didn't find their way to mainstream albums. It was only in the expanded LOVE CD that "The Snake" even came to my knowledge.

The white box set came out like 90 or 91. I've had it for a long time but only have the discs. I've pretty much destroyed the box part and cases from wear and tear. I bought the rare cult box set around 2000 or so and even picked the the single disc Best of Rare cult.

Yeah I couldn't see the value in splurging on rare cult demo sessions.

I use to have a lot of collectible stuff that I ended up giving a good friend by I knew he would take care of it like the cult beer can and a rare concert poster and shirts

I'm also disappointed that Zap City didn't make it on Electric or something. .

I am disappointed that this was not the version put on Electric.

Which do you prefer, Cdawg? Peace or Electric?

^wow. If they had made this song more concise and found some type of chorus to include, this would have been brilliant. Love is an album with no fillers, but 2 more tracks should have been included on the original -- Little Face and this. I believe Little Face was released on a UK version.

Both.

Steve brown or Rick Rubin is the question.

I like Red Jesus off rare cult.

Trite question, but you don't think Rubin stripped them of their unique rock wave sound? You liked the stuff Bob Rock did with them also? Ceremony was a subsequent disaster. LOVE is my favorite by far. I just wish Peace would have been released and maybe we would have never had to listen to Sonic Temple and Ceremony because they wouldn't have been created. No, I did not like the Cult following the fire of Les Warner and the hire of Rock and then Sorum for drums. Of course, Nigel Preston was the best of them all -- r.i.p.

Their best live work, IMO. I wish, Oh God I wish, I could have been at this show or even the Ritz show they did for MTV.

Ian interview

About the 19:00 minute mark he discusses the about going with Rick Rubin over Steve Brown.

Ceremony was Richie Zito and it just didn't deliver as follow up to Bob Rock's Sonic Temple. What's interesting is how Electric was being produced by Rick Rubin before he blew up and the same goes for their work with Bob Rock.

By the time ceremony hit, grunge had pretty much killed everything before it. Very few popular bands survived it.
