Can't afford to give another shitty coach a clean slate where we have to wait for him to prove he sucks. I would rather keep Monty with his shitty track record knowing that he's piling up evidence of his suckage than bring in Avery and ensuring that we will suck for at least 3 more years.
Even if Avery sucks less than Monty, he still sucks and we can't afford to botch this next hire. It will likely be the last one we make before AD sees true free agency.

Definitely worse. You don't stay out of coaching for as long as he has because you're actually, secretly really great. It's why Gruden's never going to coach in the NFL again. Mediocre coaches who look good with other people's talent.
