so now that Les has decided that he's going "all in" on recruiting, what kind of realistic bump can we expect?

obviously we're not getting much of a push this year. maybe a few kids, but they will be a small % of our total class. i'm saying it will be too hard to make up that much this late (not that steele/O will fail out of the chute)

but are we looking at being the favorites for the "recruiting national title" that bama has dominated the past almost decade? is that where our expectations lie? or are we thinking more 3-5 every year with an occasional top class?

Depends what site youre referring to...

247 composite will have us somewhere 5-10 this year.

Next year should be top 3 easy. Hard to say after that

probably get 2 or 3 kids a year that we wouldn't have before

mainly, keeping kids in louisiana will improve

Recruiting national titles are a joke. Not that they don't show who is getting great athletes, but when things like not committing improve your stock, it is just a popularity contest. How many times did MSU finish ahead of LSU in the past 3 years? The answer is none. Instead of worrying too much about who gets the big star guys, I'd be more inclined to ask how much can the kids be developed once they get to school

we would have been pushing top 3 next year with no staff changes

with this recruiting staff we will definitely be in play for #1 in 2016

So it's called dedication? Guess that's a nice way of putting it.

Not bashing. I never said any coaches don't do a good job. Hell, LSU sends players to the NFL all the time. I'm just talking about recruiting rankings not being an end all be all.

Number 1 overall isn't really an insane expectation for next year if we can get back ahead for a few key prospects. Not saying it will happen, but its very possible.

well counting 2015 is bad and i think 2016 is similarly bad, b/c it's loaded, right?

this is more of a long-term question, anyway

That makes absolutely no sense.
So because there is a lot of talent out there in 2016, we aren't going to count it if Lsu signs them.
These kids can go anywhere they want. Someone has to get them to sign at Lsu. Lsu has no birthright to these kids.

not really because half of the top talent in the state is considering us and other equally. they are not "locks" at all

fair is fair. we won't use 2015 b/c of outlier (time) and we won't use 2016 b/c of outlier (super loaded talent in LA)

i won't credit steele/O as the reasons we got the #1 class, b/c it's highly likely that our previous regime would do just as well

What do you mean by bad? 2016 is loaded, yes, but we were on good footing before adding Steele and O. Main thing is getting Willie Allen wrangled back in, getting the guys we should get, and grabbing a few from out of state.

i don't expect a lot of change this recruiting season. next year we should do very well. it wouldn't surprise me if we got a couple of late flips this year though.

You missed my point. A top 10 recruiting class is basically the same, as long as those kids are getting developed. Having a top recruiting ranking doesn't mean everything. Is it great to have a high ranking? Sure, I guess. But certainly doesn't always grant success. You have to recruit needs and kids who can develop which doesn't always show up in stars.

How are confident in this statement after what happened for the 2014 class?
