In the old days we could line bird cages with worthless "guarantees".

Rex, what probably happened is that Smart was offered and did not accept.
Smart declined and recommended Steele. Miles decided to go with the LB coach from Bama.
It's the kind of hire I'd expect to see from Tulane.
