Any of the ceramic cooker guys try one of these stainless caps out yet? I got mine in today and I'm using it for the first time right now.

I've read nothing but good about these caps on the egg forums. Better temp control, rain proof, rust proof, and it looks pretty sweet imo. It also prevents egg users from having to take ceramic cap off and on to replace with the daisy wheel.

First cook using it was a simple spatchcock chicken.. Cap is super easy to adjust temp.. Only one action versus 2 when using a daisy wheel makes it nice.

I've had one for a while and it's light years better than the OEM cap. Makes you wonder why BGE doesn't include them on all their units.

Well, in about 10 years of BGE use, I have never used that ceramic cap. I put mine on the bottom of the rolling caddy on day one and it's never been on the egg.

What exactly is the ceramic cap for?

The SS one looks like a winner though.

i agree. BGE should adopt this as their OEM and do away with the daisy wheel.

I always just threw the ceramic cap back on after cooking so the cast iron daisy wheel wouldn't get rusted up.
