Ben Affleck and David Fincher will re-team on a Warner Bros remake of the Hitchcock classic thriller Strangers On A Train. Gillian Flynn, who adapted her novel Gone Girl for Fincher and Affleck, is in talks to write the script. The film will be produced by Affleck under Pearl Street, the Warner Bros-based banner he runs with Matt Damon. WB’s Jon Berg is overseeing. They are calling it Strangers.

Strangers on a Train is my favorite Hitchcock movie. Not sure how I feel about a remake. There is no beating what Hitchcock and Robert Walker (as Bruno) did in the original.

I trust those three together. Affleck basically co-directed Gone Girl with Fincher. I saw a cool interview with Tyler Perry about how much he learned from those two.

WTF!

Hitchcock movies should never be remade. This is sacrilegious and a total affront to God.

Well, considering it was a novel first, it is not exactly an original to Hitchcock.

You convinced me, I'm pissed. This is more unsettling than the news of a Blade Runner remake.

What does that have to do with anything? He did write the stories for any of his films.

Just because he didn't write the story is no reason to remake film.

Weird. The movie was a question on Jeopardy today.

Just saying that because Hitchcock had certain take on someone else's work, doesn't mean someone else can't have a different take on it.

Well I guess Hitchcock is burning in hell because he remade The Man Who Knew Too Much.

Ha, ha yeah, Hitchcock's movies were almost never adapted from novels. Check with the creative team behind the remake of Psycho and ask them if it's a good idea to "remake" his films. I'd really want the added pressure of knowing my film was going to automatically be compared to the work of one of the greatest film makers of all time. The only good thing that will come of this is the possibility that maybe it will cause a younger generation to become interested in Hitchcock's original work.
