I recall it being late (after signing day?). Anyone know why it took so long to announce Cam as OC? I believe he was out of a job earlier in the season.

Key difference is we technically had an Offensive Coordinator on staff at the time. Much more uncertainty for recruits now.

also defense is what LSU is known for and is what has carried this program since saban first arrived. i would think they would want to have the leader of our most important unit installed by signing day.

Even though he was let go, he may have agreed to assist the Baltimore Ravens in some capacity on their way to the Superbowl. It seems logical, Chicken.

Cam had nothing to do with the team once he was let go.

The real question was when was it known. LSU consistently takes a while to announce the hire...and Les has strategically waited to "hire" until after signing day in order to take advantage of a loophole that gives him additional visits.

This feels different. Nobody knows anything, and nobody is even leaking credible information.

Exactly

Exactly. And this information The Advocate is reporting comes from LSU's side.

So they want that information out there. The question is why.

This

If I remember correctly it was kind of known that he was hired but they didn't make it official bc apparently there is some rule if you don't have all your coordinators signed then the Head Coach can do twice as many in home visits or something of that nature

Not sure about Cam but I do recall Les promoting Peveto and Mallory to Co-DCs in February of 2008.

He's been fooling defensive coordinators for 10 years and that is much more important than the date a hire is announced

We hired Bo Pelini Feb 10th, 2005..

Considering Miles is no defensive guru himself, I'd say that worked out well with a sugar bowl win then and national championship in 06 and 07

Yeah I will never be a fan of promoting within and co coordinators bc of that. I know TCU and Ohio St are working fine with co coordinators though
