The question was, is Brees still top 5. Looking at the most recent data would suggest that, no, he is not.

this kind of shite is interchangeable each year.

this year was disappointing because Brees tossed 17 interceptions. A handful of pick sixes in there too.

call it pressing to hard.. whatever.

it was infuriating.

but that's what you get when you are one of the best QB's in the league.

maybe too much credit when you win and maybe too much blame when you lose.

If you put every QB behind the same line... Yes.

Even if Brees performs at a high level next season, the Saints need to at least identify and acquire the successor.

Very valid point. I think Brees will be here another 3-4 years at the most. Maybe I'm wrong and he'll pull a Brett Favre. Who knows. Realistically, we have more issues than QB in the draft/FA this offseason. I think we rid of McCown (unless he wasn't already given a new contract already), promote RG4 to QB#2, and find another QB to add to our practice squad via UDFA.

If we give DB a good Oline like he had during the span of 09-11 he will excel.

Rodgers
Brady
Luck
Wilson
Manning.
Brees would be around the #9 mark.

I just cannot fathom what goes through people's minds. #9? Really? The only QBs who are better than Brees for stretches of time are Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, and Aaron Rodgers. Brees is in that category. Below him would be QBs like Big Ben, Matt Ryan, Rivers, Luck, etc.

Brees puts up another top 10 all time single-season passing yards record for the fourth year in a row, but he's not elite at all.... got it.

People not calling Brees elite are morons.

The guy led the league in passing and had one of the top completion percentages.

Impressive, but it's about where you are at the end of December and what you do in January that really matters.

Right, which is why Eli Manning and Ben Roethlisberger are elite and Drew Brees is not.

Brees can play at a high level til he's 40 with a line that can stop an interior rush..period

THIS YEAR (the 2014 season only), he is definitely NOT a Top 5 QB.

But if you asked me to name the Top 5 Quarterbacks currently in the NFL, he's in there.

Nice job, you basically just copied/pasted the playoff standings from this year.

So you completely ignore the crucial pieces that these teams have that the Saints do not? Respectable offensive lines, defenses with a pulse, and some of the better coaching staffs (with the exception of the Cowboys) in the NFL. Find those very 3 crucial pieces, put them into the Saints, and you will have a killing machine with Brees at the helm.

Yes. If he had Green Bay or Indy's defense, the Saints easily win the division and could still be playing, though I doubt they win at GB or Seattle this year. My top five are Rodgers, Brady, Brees, Luck and Manning. Agree they need to identify the future but that doesn't start until 2018 if Drew stays healthy.

Luck is the only one I would say has made a case to move up into that same conversation as Brees. He made a pretty huge jump this year, but he's also in a super pass heavy offense this year and also had at least a couple of games that were real stinkers. Next year if he progresses just a little he'll easily be in the very top elite group.
