This weather sucks. Raining again and suppose to rain the next two days. Trying P. St. Joe this year. Tired of the mayhem in Destin.

Great Choice! You should try to time the scallop season. It's August-Sept. Scalloping is the flys on the shite! Love us some Pt St Joe.

No, no, no. St. Joseph's Peninsula sucks. Way too commercial--so many bars, strip clubs, and air-brushed t-shirt shops. Pick someplace else.

PSJ is a great change of venue from Destin no doubt. I try to avoid Hwy 98 at all costs and I live here. The shelling is freaking unreal as sand dollars and starfish are plentiful if you desire to walk in tourist free areas.

It's about 30-45 east of Panama City.

Yes, it's a few hours east of Destin, between Panama City and Appalachiicola (sp?). It's about an 8 hour drive for us from Baton Rouge to get to Cape San Blas.

Stay on 98 past Destin and Panama City until you pretty much can't go any further and turn south on Hwy 71. Port Saint Joe has a State Park with playgrounds kayaks and picnicking areas but nothing that Destin has in restaurants and such. When shelling do not pick up anything live Such as starfish and such.

Check out Perdido Key. Much more family oriented and laid back than Destin.

You should look at Biloxi. One poster on here says it is just like going to a fancy resort in Palm Springs.
